i just downloaded DJ-300 and 400 to the laptop and they both loaded fine.make sure when you download it,save it to computer then you can run and install it.Rick gave me that tip when i had problems sometime ago.

Does or should I say when will Rockit support M3U play lists.

Going back in time to an archaic format, is not in the future plans. Rockit is fully XML based at this point in time.:)

GIGAPORT AG via ASIO ??

When MS officially supports, and provides ASIO drivers, Rockit will be ready to support them. It already has the functionality built in, but until they are packaged with the OS -- not happening. I can't rely on third party drivers.

BTW, Rockit works fine with the Gigaport HD on 32 bit platforms, and can see all outs.

Thanks appreciated.

Do you have a way to convert M3U lists to XML easily? I tried opening a XML file created with MediaMonkey (No cigar) ??

Not really, although it wouldn't be very hard to do. Rockit's library and playlist format specification is published in the manual here (Appendix A):

http://rockitprodj.softjock.com/ROCKITPRODJManualV40.pdf

Rockit requires absolute paths to the files in the filename field. So for example, you could write a script of some sort, that would build an XML playlist in Rockit's format, and stuff the filename field with the absolute paths. You would then have to run a tag update in Rockit's playlist editor to pull in the rest of the information.

IMHO, it's probably easier to just rebuild the playlists the normal way in Rockit, as all the tag info would get parsed properly when the songs are added to the main library...

I hear yah..

I know you want to be on the curve of new protocols where ever possible.

And reduce your support costs (the name of the game)

But in this case I believe you should try to acommodate the Wedding DJ's that have many play lists in M3U format that don't think it cool to manually start over.

ASIO support fits in here as well.

Thanks and remember the Betamax :sqwink:

I still have a Betamax -- works great to this day :)

I put the M3U on my list -- I'll see if I can find time to put something in for the next release. If I do, it will require absolute paths though, so not sure how many folks have M3U's with absolute path information in them...

By absolute if you mean the path to the file, mine created with Mediamonkey seem to point to the exact file location.

On a Cortex (Linux based) I just substitute the Drive letter with a .. it works great.

All my software driven programs, M3U play lists works like with PCDJVJ Virtual DJ, PCDJ DEX and a few others..

So this would be a big deal for me to get over these two hurdles..

Thanks Rick I'm just trying to make you richer :sqlaugh:

What about ASIO FOR ALL drivers generally available as a free download and works great for many DJ's

This would be very nice and fit easily if Rockit is ready ?

Yes -- it would have to look like this:

C:\MP3\SomeArtist\SomeSong.mp3

My issue with ASIO, is I don't want to support 3rd party drivers like that. If/when MS includes drivers that work like ASIO, then the support falls on them, and not me -- I don't like working that hard... ;) :)

OR MAYBE MIXMASTER COLORS :sqcool:

What are Mixmaster colors...?

Maybe you could just put a disclaimer :)

One of your SKINS ? I think that is what is was referred to here in the thread perhaps it's called Multimix colors without the wood for the DJ-400 skin :)

Hey Rick,

I see Odyssey has a new lighted keyboard mapped to work with Serato Scratch called the Control SL.

It does not mention MIDI capability, but is there any chance this new keyboard controller could work with RockIt?

Looks to be just a standard sorta USB keyboard, so I imagine it would work (haven't tried one though). You would need to map Rockit to match whatever it says on the keys though...
