I'm just tired of hearing about it. Up here in Canada everytime you turn on the TV there is someone on there whining about getting a shot or not getting a shot or something else about the Swine Flu.

I can't wait for the spring so they can fear monger something else for a change

I think it's all a fluke. Some folks that I know say there kids have had it...nothing more than the flu with a fever is what it sounds like. But a nurse friend of mine is against the vaccine....apparently a 49 year old woman that got the vaccine at her office died 2 days later. No thanks...I'll pass.

The thing I find somewhat odd, is that our current administration, wants everybody in the country vaccinated against the flu... :sqconfused:

Quite frankly, I have no idea what's in that vaccination -- except what they tell us... :sqerr:

I know that there is a different vaccine for children that doesn't contain mercury, the rest of us get it. I figure that if the doctors who concocted the vaccine refuse to take it, then my mind is made up too.

I would be willing to bet that when all is said and done there are more casualties from the vaccine than the disease. At least Obama has bought himself a few months out the spotlight by releasing this pandemic to the world.

Too much media hype ad govt. trying to control everything. Media loves to create uncertainty so people get stressed out so attention has shifted away from other important things just to have people worried about this.

Hey Dr. Stang,

Do you think people should get the shot? I am against it for myself, the Piece and the kids. My Sister who is a Dr in Oak Park, Illinois says she is taking it.

I hope I'm making the right decision.:sqconfused:

John,
The coin is in the air at this time. I was forced to take it because of what I do and you have to also remember I have a compromised immune system due to diabetes. No adverse reaction has taken place (Had the shot last Wednesday). However there are adverse reactions and some can be severe so it's your decision. Personally I wouldn't have taken it if it was my choice, but like I mentioned I'm exposed to the bad stuff.

I would probably wait and see what's reported before proceeding.

Why would you have chose not to take it Jacob?

There are too many if's in the air Jeff. Bad reactions to it and if you look at the virus in most cases it's treatable if caught on time. If you feel bad don't hesitate to go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.

I'm really up in the air about it. My Doctor strongly suggests I get it due to the heart condition but the information is so mixed on this that it's hard to make a logical decesion.

Then there are the Kids...

Thanks for the info Doc. My sister had no choice to get it also because of the Health field. She's all for it and she had my nephew get it as well.

I will just stick to my favorite winter remedies of cold beer, music and porn.

By the way Doc it's been quite a while since I seen one of your hot pictures. Post one for old time sakes you Slick Stang Man you..

I had the H1N1 flu... thanks to my doctor for catching it and prescribing Tamiflu. I was out for 1 day and it wasn't much worse than a bad cold (for me). I understand the key is catching it in the first 36 hours. My daughter brought it home from daycare.

And no, I didn't get either the flu shot or the H1N1 shot.

I'm keep urging my mother to get it, she's got a compromised immune system and deals with the public on a daily basis. That coupled with the fact that it seems to be hitting the elderly and youngsters the hardest is why I keep telling her to get it.

For myself, I'm not going to bother. I had the flu over the summer and felt like I was going to drop dead, it was really the WORST I ever felt in my life. It cleared itself up, I don't know weather it was of the swine variety or not but I kicked the flu's arse once, I do it again. :D

I'm scared because the other day Obama declared this a national emergency.

Here is something for you to consider. I received this in an email the other day. Form your own opinion.

Here is one Doctor's thoughts on the H1N1 (Swine Flu) shots. Certainly makes one wonder what to do.

DR. RUSSELL BLAYLOCK ON SWINE FLU

This is an email sent to a friend of Dr. Blaylock and is now being
forwarded to anyone interested. Please pass it along. Also note the
attached biography of Dr. Blaylock. Dr. Blaylock is a board
certified neurosurgeon, author and lecturer. He attended the LSU
School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his general surgical
internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

No one should take this vaccine (Swine Flu vaccine)—it is one of the
most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant
called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe
autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus.
The newsletter for August covers this and it may not be out yet.
This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War
syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200%
increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus
H1N1 kills by causing a “cytokine storm”, which means that it causes
the body’s immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing
young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have
weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune
stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality
of the virus much greater.
One’s best protection is vitamin D3.. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an
overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called
antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that
does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the
higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils
(the best is Carlson’s Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also
reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient.
For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of
various kinds also help—this includes, quercetin, curcumin, grape seed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core (www.vrp.com) is also essential.

Was reading about the overhype in the paper recently. It seems that hospital ERs and walk-in clinics have been overwhelmed at times, with people who do not have swine flu.

According to the article, so much media fanfare has been created around H1N1, people get panicky when they sneeze. Or when someone sneezes around them.

Children with little more than a case of the sniffles or a common cold are being rushed to treatment centers by parents or guardians because they "might" be infected with swine flu. Most of the patients do not exibit any of the flu-like symptoms of H1N1, yet they panic and rush for care just the same.

Down here the media is having a field day with statements by dumbass public officials. One stated that of all of the "flu" cases 90% of them where swine flu, I almost fell off my chair laughing my ass off. No wonder so many patients died in public hospitals under the care of "qualified" medical doctors. When I started doing the autopsies when we were not completely sure what was going on and what we were dealing with we were extremely careful and took all the safety measures to avoid any complication. However once we identified what was going on and realized the incompetence of the public health centers the fear became anger. People would still be alive ifr it weren't for these buttholes.

Now a healthy individual should have no problems getting over the disease with the proper medication, and if symptoms are present they need to get to the ER to avoid the health deterioration that comes with the disease if it's allowed to continue evolving. However, scaring the chit out of people with excessive media input does not help the situation. Kids are at risk because their immune system is building it's structure to put it in layman's terms. And if the child's immune system is compromised by a chronic disorder then the parents need to get the child to the hospital ASAP and the same applies for the older more fragile human beings. But in the rest of the population the percentage of survival is very high when treated adequately with the correct medications and common sense.

We get enough bull chit about the world ending from Discovery Channel, the History channel, the National Geographic channel, A & E. etc. there is no need to scare people even more and all this can also cause problems with people with heart conditions, etc. that can be stressed out too much and you know what happens when somebody's heart goes on strike.

Use common sense, be careful but don't stress yourself too much over this YOU HEAR THAT JEFF ;) Papa you're in the same boat use common sense and be mindful but don't let the flying pigs scare you to death.
