Didn't mean to imply it did. Just made note of it since I'm a member, might as well use that benefit. I'm designing my own web site though using Visual Site Designer from CoffeCup Software. Simple but pretty.

SEO is a whole 'nother ball game. Might pay someone to set it up for me. At least get me to show up on Google when Winchester, VA DJ's are searched.
 
Sarge it has everything to do with your hosting company..

If you have a website (cough spit ting) get rid of it and get a blog hosted on a blazing fast server

Don't use bloody template websites either - load of ****e - get a Word Press blog

I'm not after your work or money either just trying to stop you getting mugged

A little birdy told me that if you have multiple domains hosted on the same name server then it might affect rankings.

Ok not picking on you but here's your problem.....

First none of your keywords are separated by commas, this is important because spiders see these as one big keyword phrase.... for example you could change your keywords to something like:

Wedding DJ Virginia, Wedding DJ MD, Wedding DJ WV, Wedding DJ DC, Wedding DJ Maryland, Wedding DJ West Virginia, Wedding DJ District of Columbia, Wedding disc jockey virginia

Then in the Description Meta tag you need to include one or more of these keywords... for example:

An interactive DJ entertainment company providing outstanding entertainment and customer service in West Virgina, Maryland, and DC for Weddings, Parties and Corporate events

Hello mate: I have been "doing SEO" for 12 (almost 13 years) I am not a boastful person although I can be a bit opinionated at times.

I am considered by my peers to be a clever bastard with regards to seo ;)

So to tell you the truth I have 6 blogs all on one server all these blogs rank number 1, 2 or 3.

I have a forum that I just started (hat tip to Big Dan) that now ranks third and has overtaken the local newspaper and other 'bigger" people than me.

So read into that what you will about multiple domains, websites or blogs on the same server :)

I use a company that has a blazing fast service, is a fellow Mom and Pop outfit and based in the US (I am in the UK)

Sarge - I wouldn't worry about the keywords - Google doesn't use them in any calculations so they are of no use. I do put about six in just in case it comes back in fashion. ;)

SEO is so ****ing easy these days guys - it always has been easy but Google have just made it easier ;)

As most up to date SEO experts will tell you. There are high quality and low quality links. Indications are that Google has been giving better weighting to high quality links for some time now.

However, it's believed that High quality alone won't be the only important factor. Emphasis should, and probably will be placed, on High quality links that are relevant to the site's core subject or service.

It's one thing to add a High Quality link to a site that ranks the same or higher than yours. It's a completely different matter if that site doesn't relate to what you offer.

So outbound links to sites that contain content that's relevant to your site, is something that should be emphasized anyway. After all, it provides the best possible user experience for both Google and the visitors of your site!

Yea, I've heard that too.... But haven't really seen it... ALL My sites are hosted on the same server.. :) and have SEO Links throughout my pages...

Keyword stuffing your title and your web page are also supposed to be a big NO NO but people still do it and get away with it... Over and over..

I don't recommend it, I do the keyword stuffing in my title, but not my website.... and it works wonders.. :)

Do you mean like embedding a video on your blog/website gets you ranked well in google? Just curious...

BTW, I just found out yesterday that my youtube page has a Page Rank 3.... which means many many people are pointing to it..

My DJ Website also has a page rank 3...

Hmmmmmm.... I don't agree... it may not add to google status but sure as heck helps in searching.... I've done it this way for years and get top billing in google.... now mind you it's not the only thing I do with my site to gain rank... I'm also listed with a link back to my site on as many free listing sites that I can find that are even remotely DJ related...

Frankly to say keywords and your site description or title don't assist in google rankings is BS.

Unfortunately Youtube implements the "no follow" tag. I wish they'd remove that because if a lot of people are pointing at our channels it obviously means we're posting good content.
 
I think Davey makes some good points as to a blog, social media and the like, but I will still have a website. Mny prospective clients say they looked at it from my card. I see a website as sort of an online business card with more space for information. I just need to learn even the most basic stuff to get it to show up. With so many others DJ's in the area showing up in a search, I need to be there too.

I have 4 websites on one hosting accounts. Just like you, I stuff my title tag a little bit. I never said I listened to that little birdy, but hey it's working for both of us.

Yep - Google are pointing to it ;) They must see it as of value.

Yer missing the point... :)))))))) It's not about getting link juice out of it, but using it to rank high on the search engine results!!!! :) Which is how I initailly got a PR3 in the first place... by going after search terms that were not taken by other youtube users... :) So now I could actually do pretty much what I want with my videos and be one of the first that come out for my search terms... Buah ha ha ha ha!!! Most DJ websites are PR2 or below... I would say, easily over 80% of them... Time to educate my brides!!!

A website is the most powerful marketing tool there is today... IT would benefit you greatly if you take the time to try to understand SEO and to actually IMPLEMENT what you learn both here and anywhere else...

It's funny cuz I targeted severla niche keywords with my blog and because of it and because it came up on the SERP for those keywords, I got a rush of traffic... :)

I've never worried about backlinks Dennis - All the link to me and I'll link to you brouha is still going on. I slip a few in on my profile sites and ALL microsites for varying small businesses but nothing that I waffle on about - never have.

A few carefully placed links on sites such as a paid Linked In account works wonders and is all I need.

WORD UP It doesn't matter if you're number one everywhere - what you must bear in mind is the possible customer and on page factors that will turn them into a customer and then after the event give you a good review
