How about as back up for that time that the wheels on the coffin cease to work or for any of the other pieces you have on rolling travel cases?

My back up system is another Bose system. You are totally misunderstanding what I said. What I said was if a second system was not needed, we won't set it up. I didn't say if a second system was required, we won't do the show. I have 6 systems, so if I needed them, they would be put to use. I ALWAYS have AT LEAST 2 systems with me.
Thanks for the advice on the lack of experience. I am always looking for pointers from someone that claims that they have lots more experience. I seek the knowledge of anonymous posters, but only ones that do AT LEAST 250 private parties a year and do all of it without a website. They seem to know more than anyone else and know exactly how everyone else should run their business.

A dolly? We don't need no stinkin' dollies!! Dollies are for little girls. Man up!
Roadies? We don't need no stinkin' roadies!! Back in the day, we carried tens of crates of vinyl up three flights of stairs - after carrying each speaker upstairs by hand. Man up!

What Ducky said! Also, in many cases stairs and other things make dollies a slow down. It can actually be faster if I, secure in my burlitude, CARRY the equipment in. Helps me keep my girlish figure, too!
And if a PC based DJ needs help, he/she also needs to visit a gym and maybe eat a salad- assuming generally good health.
What about DJs that don't have a website? How about those that book multiple functions on the same day?

I almost always use a hand truck/cart and even on stairs it can make a difference.
I am not into carrying a lot of weight up a staircase so I add money to the contract to pay the help I will take with me for that purpose.
As for not needing a dolly many may not, but when I can place an 18" sub and two 12" mains, 3 CD books along with an amp box for a single trip in and out, it just makes more sense! When that hand cart allows me to make a second trip with a DJ table, light stands, speaker stands, player/mixer box, computer and lights I think it makes a lot more sense for me.

As far as I am concerned the ethics of a DJ has nothing to do with what they own or carry, how it is set up or used, but how that person treats others that he has to deal with.

Cesar do you bring extra parts for your dolly a pump in case the tires go flat or a can of fix a flat or a second can in case the first doesnt work? Do you bring extra Cotter Pins for the axles in fact do you bring extra axles and finally do you bring someone along in case you pull a muscle?

I have three hand truck/carts, one of them probably 15 years old now, only two flats in that many years! But I have changed the small rear wheels on two of the trucks. As for the air pump there is one in every vehicle along with a tire plug kit, you just never know when you may need it!
