Oh well, just let us know if and when you guys are going to do this and we'll try to be there. If not, have fun! :)

Maybe I'll see if Ben can get me a guided tour through EV land someday?

Will do!

Hell if anyone wants a tour of Crown... I can get ya in... they do tours all the time here in Elkhart... might not be EV but still a heck of a company.

Got any Hog farms that you can get us into?..I love the smell of piggy factories...:sqwink:

Will do.

Ben how is that week for you?

I think that will work for me as long as it's the FIRST week of June. The second i'm in Jacksonville.

Briar : Exactly my point and exactly the questions that an end user needs to ask bout, observe, and consider.

The L1 has built in presets and a wired EQ (L1 MI) or a Tone Match Engine for the MII. Does the test criteria mean the L1 user cannot fully utilize their system's potential for the sake of a reading?

Actually Cap, I couldn't agree more. A line array is useless without processing, so it would be highly unfair not to allow you to use the equipment that is part of the system. What I want to avoid is external outboard processing or artificial gain infaltion. The point here is let's hear the systems, not the processing. If it comes with the system, it should be included.

What I want to take out of the equation is the music source, the mixing, processing and pre-amplification. If all systems receive the same content then a true, unbiased comparrison can be had. The meters simply allow us to quantify what people should hear. I think it's very unlikely that the meters will show us one thing and the ear will tell us another, don't you?

On that same page with you, for sure.

While I don't believe the elephant David Copperfield made disappear is really gone, I love the magic anyway. My eyes were fooled, even though my reason and logic knows differently. It would be disappointing to have any numbers thrown about as subjective qualifiers, tossed upon the majority who know little about them except that 1000 watts is a bigger number that 500 watts.

What do you hear? Do you like what you hear? What do you see? Do you like what you see? I hope that is the crux of Rob's DJ gathering.

It's 5:30am and I'm off to Framingham in 30 minutes to FINALLY get my hands on the L1 Compact and run it through it's paces. For a full report of my personal experience/findings (meter-less) in terms of mobile DJ applications:

June 3 probably the best for me but arrangements could be made for the other two if necessary.

Rob, are you guys on central or eastern up there? What kind of times are you guys thinking about?

good to know, there might be a chance then that Ducky and I could attend.

Tuesday or Wednesday. Might even have the L1 Compact system in my arsenal by then.

It would be fun to take off on Monday and make it a long weekend, but any of those days would work. I've got some vacation and personal time built up and can afford to take a day or two off of work....:sqwink:

sweet, if it wasn't so far away and I wasn't already busy, I'd be interested in driving over myself.

Alas, I'm booked for May 29,30, and june 5,6, so I won't be there, as much as I'd love hearing the other rigs and making objective opinions and discussions as to the positive and negative aspects of each one in comparison.

If I were you guys, I wouldn't be doing it as a competition, I would be doing it just to compare the systems and know what each is capable of, and what the best type of system to buy for specific needs are.

Clark dont be fooled by the humor of the post

these two guys are likely the two most laid back in regards to about having fun on this board. Others attending might be who should be worried about. Im sure it will be a great day of fellowship and sound.

Ben

If you have to resort to meters to find a difference in a system, then there isn't enough of a difference to worry about probably.

Close your eyes and open your ears.
