Scott, just for clarification, who is this "your friend" you're speaking of?

Because they can't do it or are afraid to do it or won't do it, does not mean they have to despise those who are doing it.
Then they see someone like me who can come along work with the Client and Venue and get want they want and that makes them angry.
They may all laugh and try and ridicule me because I am different. I laugh at them because they are all the same.

But instead this drags out with a bunch of grown "men" acting like two year olds.
cheers:If you were a bartender that would make sense. That you are not - is just kind of creepy.
Best of luck with your anger management.![]()
I post a comment directed at no one, yet you see it as something you needed to attack. Kind of like what you accuse most others here of doing to you and Canute. Pot meet kettle. Thanks for showing your true colors. Again.
TIME OUT....
Now that you've all paused for a minute to see that, I'd like to address a few things I've seen pop up on these now 17 pages of dribble.
Houston and Bob...how you deliver a message will determine how others receive it. Call someone stupid or an idea stupid and you'll never get a point across. Also, if they are not understanding what you are saying, it's your fault as much as theirs. Communication takes more than one person, whomever is speaking must pause and evaluate if their message is getting across and if it isn't they need to change how they're sending the message. Finally, choose your words carefully...sometimes changing one word will alter the way an entire conversation will go down.
Everyone else...the part about getting the message across applies to you all as well.
Houston...you claim that everyone is hatin' on you and there are double standards that go on here at ODJT. That's fine, if you feel that way, maybe you need to take a good hard look in the mirror and be 100% honest with yourself. As for the double standards, you've got to take that up with the mods. But think about this for a minute...you've mentioned that you're done with this thread before, but you've still allowed it to go on for 17 pages, so apparently you really don't mind all the drama.
For the love of god...any one of you could have been the bigger man in this thread and walked away any number of pages ago. But instead this drags out with a bunch of grown "men" acting like two year olds.
People wonder what happened to the good ole days of ODJT and why some of the older members who have a lot to share don't come around any more...
17 PAGES OF UTTER CRAP, BICKERING, DRAMA AND BULL**** FROM A SMALL HANDFUL OF MEMBERS!
I've said my piece and now I'm gonna go and do something productive.
Interesting.. you choose to be offended and yet, revoke that same option for readers of your own posts?
Interesting.. you can choose to be offended and yet, presume your own posts beyond the reproach of other readers?
I also haven't complained about being attacked by anyone. I ignore most bait and pouts.
Never said I was offended. Just thought is was true to your online persona to attack when none was needed, plus trying to insult me by insulting my clients. Over 20 years in the military, I learned to be prepared for the troops I was responsible for. I carry that same care over to my clients.
As far as the way I handle my events, it's just my preference, as is the way you and and Canute handle yours. I was just making a statement, just as you and Canute were.
You're right, Mac.
But there IS a certain amount of "entertainment value" in seeing where this will go.
It's kinda like a soap opera!
...if you're not offended then why are we still talking about how offended and insulted you are? Is that just a statement too? LOL.
My preference is not attempting to one-up the professional people I am working with.
If I was the bartender I'd bring red wine stain remover.
If I was supplying the champagne I'd bring a pair of toast glasses.
If I was the florist I'd bring an extra throw-away bouquet.
If I was the Justice of the Peace I'd bring a pair of rings.
If I was the maid of honor I'd bring a small sewing kit.
If I was the caterer I'd have an extra cake (yes, they really do.)
If I was the photographer I'd have a towel, comb, and a make-up kit.
However, I am the DJ and I already know that each of these people I am working with is fully prepared and already employs the extras I cited.
Likewise, I do not expect the caterer to bring a hard drive full of music, the bartender to have batteries for my microphone, or the florist to have an extra extension cord.
There is a line where preparedness ends - and looking for others to fail begins.

Mike you are making yourself look like a Bloody Fool! Leave it alone Mate. Nobody cares that you want to be a supervisor of all the Vendors. If you were caught doing that at one of the Country Clubs where I play you would not be welcome there anymore. Allow other professionals to do their job and mind your own damn business. Does the Florist come to check your equipment? Does the Bartender come to check to see if you are plugged in? Who died and left you Captain of the gang?
MIKE,
FOR CRIPES SAKE GIVE IT UP WILL YA!! THIS THREAD MUST BE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE INTERNET. YOU DON"T HAVE TO BE AN ODJT MEMBER, ANYONE CAN LOG ON TO SEE IT. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE HAVING A BALL OVER THIS THREAD. YOU AND YOUR COHORTS MAY BE IN THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO THINK THAT WAY BUT YOU SURELY DON'T REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE MANY PROFESSIONALS WHO DEEM THIS KIND OF PRACTICE NECESSARY.
Birds of a feather often flock together. Dilligence my azz! It is called Micro Managing!Canute, with all due respect, Mike's not making a fool of himself, you are. I respect what you do and what you bring to the table but really, you're a pig-headed, know-it-all that thinks he can't learn a thing from anybody. And to make matters worse, you lack the character to be able to simply admit when you're wrong.
I appreciate what these guys are sharing. It's not wanting to be a supervisor of all the vendors, it's called "diligence". Being able to bail out a fellow vendor on a moment's notice is not going to raise their angst. If they're decent folks, they are going to be grateful that you were there to save their bacon and that is going to win you passionate referrals (and subsequent business) for years to come and that, in addition to being able to save the day for your client, which will also win you rave reviews and future business. It's smart business, not ego, and you have it exactly wrong in your assessment. You do what works for you but don't go shouting (in red) that others here don't know what they're talking about. They do.
