This is exactly why I buy Custom Built. Some things to remember.
I will be running the same three programs so nothing will change.
My last custom built cost me $1,500. Coming to think of it, I think it was actually $1,200.00. It lasted me and is still working 6+ years.
I am buying more than is needed now, so by the time it gets obsolete for me, it would have paid for itself many times over.
 
That is an awesome computer for sure. We use a Macbook Pro and Virtual DJ. I have never has an issue with video since getting my Macbook Pro.

If you want to stay with PC, that laptop you picked out will do just fine. I just hope they don't load it up with software you will never use.

I use Traktor Pro2. There are some things on there that I will make them take off. If it comes with any unnecessary software, ads, pop ups, trial versions etc, its going back in the box and back to Dell. I told them it is a business machine for business.
 
OK Trigger Pulled. I went from an Inspiron Model to a XPX 17. Added a few upgrades and now I am out more $$$$$$$$$$. Damn Commies (As Rick would say!) LOL. It should be here by May 1st.

That will be cool. They wanted me to get a wireless Printer in the package but I declined for two reasons. First, There would be hardly anything I would need to print from that computer and if so I have a wireless network at home attached to a laser Printer. Second, I believe you have to buy Dell Cartridges for Dell Printers and therefore it would be hard to get bargains locally.
If that think is really wireless to do what you say, I can locate my Singers just about anywhere in a room. My Mics are already wireless.
 
Almost all printers these days over $75 have wireless. A really nice unit, and they have it on sale every so often, is the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600+ ( http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1 ). I've seen it on sale for under $200 and it prints great, and fast, scans and faxes and can even scan directly to email. As for the wireless displays, that technology is fairly new and included on some new machines, so not sure exactly how it works, though my ipad has a similar app to allow it to work as a wireless display, so the tech is starting to make inroads. It uses WiFi, which has longer range than some older technologies.

I have always bought Pro Versions of Software and operating systems on all my machines.

The only thing I may not have bothered with is the office Professional. You can get the Home/student version for $125 which has the EXACT same Word, Excel and Powerpoint. With the Pro version, you get Access, Publisher and Outlook, so if you needed Outlook, it might be ok (depending on the cost), but almost no one needs Access (unless you are designing your own databases) or Publisher, so you're paying for unused apps.

I use Access a lot. It is a true Database whereas Excel is a spreadsheet. Publisher is great for making Flyers etc.
 
If you use them .. then you got the right product. I do use Publisher, but it's been 10+ years since I've needed to use Access for something that I couldn't do with Excel.
 
Wait I thought this machine was strictly a bad mofo DJ machine. Why would you have a bloated program like Office on a lean mean DJ machine?

I keep all my files contacts and everything related to DJing on that Machine. Those are offline programs.
I am also experimenting with my Voice Recognition Software to voice activate commands with Traktor and Sax n Dotty's.
 
The other thing I didn't notice before .. It really doesn't pay to get Windows Professional unless you connect to a Windows Domain, which you do not, or need to run some old Windows XP software that requires the XP mode. Home Premium is pretty much good enough for anything here.
