The other thing I didn't notice before .. It really doesn't pay to get Windows Professional unless you connect to a Windows Domain, which you do not, or need to run some old Windows XP software that requires the XP mode. Home Premium is pretty much good enough for anything here.
I understand and appreciate what you are saying. When I buy machines I buy for future use. This one will last me for a long time. In the event I replace it with a newer one down the road, I can always use this one as a browsing Laptop at home.

Well it has been shipped and should be here tomorrow by 4.00pm. I have lots of work to do this weekend. First I have to load on my Music Library, Karaoke Library, External Sound Card, Traktor, Karaoke Software. Need lots of beer!

$1900 for a laptop!

Can you send me some of that weed yer smoking...?

Honestly, I bought 2 lappies a couple years ago -- one an i5, the other a fast Core 2. I can run anything on these things (and as many programs as I want together). I figure I can easily get another couple years out of these things.

Cost: The i5 (Acer) was like $800, the Core 2 (Asus) was about $700. So I got two ultra fast machines, for $1500 :)

Some people like Tuna and some people like Caviar! :triwink:

Make sure you hop on down to the dollar store, and get some good quality cables for that Ferrari you bought... :sqlaugh:

Yep the lighted ones. Gotta have that Bling!

And some people need to buy Tuna that has a "Caviar" label on it  ... It'll be a sweet machine, but technology changes fast enough, that buying for more than 3 years doesn't really make sense these days.

If you really want a custom laptop, go with Sager laptops. No bloat ware added just your OS and a few other drivers. At least it was when I ordered mine.

From what I understand is if you buy a laptop from the big brand guys chances are it was built by a company like Sager. Just rebranded for them.

People told me the same thing about the one I custom ordered in January 2006. It is still being used, six years. When this one comes in, I will find uses for the other one. Maybe DMX and Crown Software.

Canute - Just bustin' on ya - we need people like you to keep the economy stimulated..

I bought my 2 Dells in 2006; one was $499, the other $599.00 - still using them today....
Did it have the specs and features that mine (One bought in 2006) has? I think not! I challenge anyone to find a laptop with the SAME exact specs and features like the one I just ordered for a cheaper price. You have to compare apples to apples.

They all be bustin' yer chops. LOL! If your wallet will afford the good stuff, go for it. There's a reason I have all the JBL SRX stuff and the touring grade crowns......
Now if I could just get ya to pick up a decent USB LED light.................

Best,

Paul

:sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh: I know what they are doing but the reason I answer back is ...if I don't, newbies or those who don't know better, will align themselves to their thinking!

Gee, a bit of hot air just blew by... xf:D

BTW, when you make your applesauce, do you do it waterlessly...?

Anywho, sarcasm aside -- pick up a decent lappy for about $600-700, pick up a RETAIL copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, and you have a clean lappy that will smoke! I don't need the bragging factor -- I just need something that works well. Perhaps you should go back to vinyl... ;)

We laugh because Canute is a sellers delight for a laptop and then buys the lights and cables at the dollar store.

Therre are some things that are functional and practical so brand and specs do not matter. When you want reliability and performance then that is a different matter. Besides, I don't know how they do it but this Particular Dollar Store where I buy stuff, sells some of the same stuff as the Brand Name Stores.

FWIW I have an off the shelf Compaq that cost me about $800, it ran since 2002; Just burnt out last week. Probably would still be running had I taken the time to blow out all the dust.
