I run into situations where a tree or columns need to be lit with my uplighting units. I HATE taping chords down and wondering if anyone has options for powering the units. Hopefully a small battery source that would last 6-8 hours that I could put next to the unit.

Small? Forget it. You didn't mention how much power draw your t-bar pulls. Wal-mart's biggest marine battery ($80) and a $50 inverter would probably keep a 50-watt t-bar (3-5 fixtures) lit for several hours but you might have to parallel a 2nd battery for 8 hour coverage. Of course, the sheer weight would probably make it not worth the effort.
I use Chauvet Slimpar 64s. I think they use 17 watts, so pretty much nothing. I have hooked up 12 to one power source without any issues.
4X17 = 68 watts
Roughly, a large marine battery should be able to push that for 5 hours (rough guess). If you're serious about this, there are online calculators that will help you figure how long you can draw against a battery.

1 amp is roughly 100 watts. You're talking a 30-watt unit. You're only running a single fixture on your t-bar?
I am putting them on the floor - using them for uplighting. For one room, I usually run 12-15 units. For a column, maybe 2 on each side, sometimes 4. Same with a tree.
That would be perfect if it wasn't so ugly looking! LOL Ideally something smaller that I can hide fairly easily.
Please recommend some to me. I would consider buying some if they are reasonable in price. For example, it would not be cost effective if they were $500-$600 each.
Have I mentioned there are going to be some cool new fixtures at LDI this year that you will be very interested in seeing?

Yeah, NLFX teams up with Omnisystem to offer 2 different systems. One is listed on their site for $3,600 and includes 12 uplights. They are both battery powered and wireless DMX so you do not have to run any cables to the lights at all. The $3,600 set has 10 hour batteries built into them and then at the end of your gig you just put them back into the case and plug it in to charge them. Also they have a $6,000 option which has bigger 3 watt leds and 20 hour battery life. Again, all wireless...power and DMX. Expensive but honestly some of the coolest things i've seen in uplighting thus far. Also Chauvet has an option that can sit underneath the par cans called the Satellite D-Fi Wireless DMX rechargeable battery pack. Again , this gives you a battery for each light as well as wireless DMX so you can operate them completely cable free. There are great options out there but honestly at this point they are all going to be pricey. If you can justify the investment though , i think these are awesome options. Personally, i wish i had an extra $6,000 around to get the 3 Watt Omnisystem set from NLFX. I didn't even realize they had released this 3 Watt version until today. Good luck!
