DJ Zac: : Bring a copy of your playlist tonight, will ya, pretty please? My date with purgatory is this Friday night.
I too went through this a few years ago. It was at that point I decided no more kids/teen dances. It was a battle that I was caught in the middle of...The kids wanted one thing, the school told me no way could I play it. The pay was lousy & it was a game with the kids to see who could intimidate the DJ the most. (hip-hop/rap vs. the kids that wanted country vs. dance pop.
If you no longer enjoy doing it,..... don't do it.
If you hate it, the people there can see it. On the other hand, there's nothing sillier than seeing a 40+ yr old white guy pretending that he's really into gangsta rap.
Now a days I primarily DJ weddings & company parties.
You couldn't pay me enough to do a school dance.
You gotta do what you enjoy.
Around here one of our big hits in this age group is "Livin On A Prayer". They are very fond of Michael Jackson as well.Hmmmm...
I just did a Sweet 16 on Saturday and the biggest hits of the night were
Final Countdown
Don't Stop Believing
Summer of 69'
Sure it was a private party... but not what I expected to rock the house!
Recently on another DJ Forum, someone referred to Kids as "turd-dumplings".....as in "parents need to learn how to control their little turd-dumplings"
and rock it...
Tom,
Where ya been. Someone told me you were giving up the biz. Is that true?
I just hate rap/hip hop. Which pretty much kills today's top 40. Mike
Hip hip & Rap was the best thing to happen to country music.
Notice how popular & mainstream country has become over the years? (it has replaced rock stations on the radio) People that hate hip-hop & rap, tend to be big country music fans.
Can't the programmers of Prime and Promo say to these guys, *Listen, your music sucks, do something else or we won't play it...*
