Why? The only thing I ever used that drive for was ripping music from the occasional CD. I have an external drive that can do that, along with at least 5 other old model PCs that can also do it.

Had a gig today where I had to repair multiple presentation files that had been f**d up by google docs. People create these things online with no understanding that none of these tech giants will support cross platform compatibility. Hell, even Microsoft refuses to make 365 compatible with it's own long legacy of desktop versions of Office.

Google sucks because it refuses to acknowledge user interests and instead rams their way of doing things down your throat by annihilating competing technologies or products that are actually BETTER. They are so focused on data-mining that they don't give a rat's A$$ about productivity - just who, what, when, and where you are sharing.

Computing was far better 20 years ago. The products were better because they met consumer needs and served user talents. Today's technology is just a merry-go-round of "trending" ideas that get in the way of real productivity. Nothing gets done because "doing" has been replaced by "sharing."

Trust me I have used flash drives before putting music on them. That's not an issue if I want to do that. Depending on where a song is on a flash drive it might take a while to get to the song. On a CD it's much easier to find what I'm looking for.

Let me say this. Modern technology is great and knowing how to use it is great. I love that I switched from using CD's to DJ with and became a computer DJ. It took a while for me to get use to. Now no problem. I use VDJ on my laptop, controller, portable HD for my music with speakers to hear the music being played. My buddy took my advice and switched over as well. Now to be fair there are DJ's who still use CD's to DJ with. Again it's about what you're comfortable with using. Just because a DJ uses CD's doesn't mean they are inferior to a DJ using a computer. It simply means they just use a different way to get the job done.

Mixy, I have a good friend that is 81 years old. 20+ years ago, I used to help him with his gigs. He has long since retired from DJing but keeps his rig set up in his home for when he feels like playing with it. He has dreams of doing a block party again someday. He is the only person I know that still DJs with CDs. BTW, he has VDJ too but gets confused by it.

Here is a fun analogy. You want to go to someplace important and must get there promptly. A guy with a horse pulls up, A guy in a Model T pulls up & a Lincoln Town car pulls up. All are means of transportation and will get you there. The guy with the horse starts telling you how reliable & how comfortable he is with the horse. The guy with the Model T says something similar. The guy with Lincoln Town car just opens the door & is quiet. Which one would any reasonable person get in?

Yes, you can ride a horse or drive Model T for the fun of it but for important stuff everyone going with the newer technology.

I hear you. I know a DJ who uses CD's and does a great job. He had an operation and is recovering right now. Again it goes back to what a DJ is comfortable using. I used to use CD's myself. My partner pushed me into using a computer to DJ with. I was never going to become a computer DJ. I resisted doing it. I finally gave it a try, even though I was scared of doing it. I eventually got the hang of it and have never looked back at using CD's to DJ with again. I gave my CD books to my ex since I saw I had no use for them other than syntamental value.

Bottom line for me is since I became a computer DJ it's made things much easier. All my music is on a portable HD. I use a controller with my laptop that has VDJ on it. Hookup a pair of active speakers to the controller, turn the laptop on and pull up VDJ, connect my HD to my laptop and connect my laptop to the controller. Please do remember to turn the controller on. I made that mistake once. I had my computer on with VDJ and was wondering why I wasn't getting anything. I forgot to turn the controller on. LOL. When I figured out the problem I couldn't help but laugh.

Thanks. My birthday is coming up. My birthday is Sunday June 2nd. If God blesses me I will be 66 years old. I got a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I can get checked out to tell me my progress.

Honestly I'm hoping I will be able to play for the seniors on Friday May 31st. I know I will get help moving the gear if I can do it. I wanted to make that day my birthday celebration with the seniors in Montclair. If I do it, I will have a cup out for those who want to donate to me.

On Thursday I got a call from the lady who is in charge asking me how I was doing? I wanted to cry at that time because it felt good that they were thinking of me. That did my spirit a world of good.
