oh from one who spouts such cryptic drivel LOL, Rox ya know ya luv it. Cam go big or dont go at all how bout the big boy toy Ben boomed the convention room with.

Cam,
At the end, it doesent matter which system you buy. What matters is that youre Partys are great and that people have fun.

Very true. But by keeping a very high standard toward sound, I have made a name for myself. People come to my karaoke nights because it's loud and they feel like a rockstar.

I'm sure we will have a big post when I make a decision to buy. Maybe if I'm lucky Ben will even personally deliver it. As long as the trend doesn't change and gigs keep booking I hope to buy something big in Jan / Feb.

My 1st thought was to buy one of the subs but I think I'm going to wait it out and do it all at once.

Cam, like it's been mentioned get the good stuff and yank the maximizer out. Get a good EQ (Driverack 260 or above or a good 31 band equalizer) you'll get the tone you want without all the hidden mayhem caused by the subharmonic synthesizer.

Except that once you have used one you will never go back!

I used one and it does make things better but... I could get a better tone playing with my equalizer and don't have to worry about my woofers getting a flat line ;)

And no smiley faces on the equalizer ;) more like the smile from the guy in "Deliverance" with the missing teeth ;)

Try the Peavey Kosmos!

As in all things moderation is the key, been usin the BBE since it first came out and then the Kosmos after it's first release. Haven't blown any speakers that I didn't intend to blow!:sqwink: A little Marco ism there!

There is nothing wrong with using a sub harmonic synthesizer if you know how and where to use it. I use mine between the low output of my 3 way electronic crossover and the bass amp. You have to be careful with the settings and gain so that you don't blow your woofers. I have used mine for years. My woofers are JBL 2205s but they don't make those anymore.

Yes, moderation is key in this. The problem is when you run all out you ride the edge and if things go wrong some stuff hits the fan.

It's something similar to Nitrous Oxide injection in automotive engines it's simple and relatively inexpensive on the short term but getting major power gains is a 5 minute deal replacing jets on the injection plate. This is where nitrous gets a bad name people get greedy and don't understand what else needs to be done to an engine to be able to make the extra power.

I've been running nitrous for years in levels from 75 HP all the way to 375 HP. Never had a problem even when running to power adders a supercharger and nitrous. The same can be said about Maximizers if you take it easy you should be fine, but if you're running at the edge the chances are it will get you.

Always had success with anything JBL
cant recommend a particular model
cuase you're obviously looking for something alot LOUDER than I need

Have you considered the EV SX500 speakers? I don't know which subs would be the best to go with them though. I'm sure someone here could suggest some different subs that could keep up with the SX500s. You might want to go and listen to a pair. I've seen them for as little as high $600 range I think.

And when you blow out a cabinet at a show you're gonna look like chit. That's not a name you want for yourself, my friend.

Sorry, Brother Cam but that's just how I see it. Something ain't right with your rig and you need to find and fix it before you purchase more boxes. I'd suggest using that maximizer as a doorstop but you never listen to me anyhow. :D

If it's a good, roadworthy PA or FOH rig you want, why not Carvin's passive LS line? Poplar plywood construction, all Eminence and B&C drivers and they're cheap enough to repair when your maximizer barbecues 'em. ;)

With apologies to Ben, the Carvin DCM amps and LS boxes can take a serious beating on the road and keep on delivering. I've read some good reports on the TRX line as well. Get 'em, pull the logo plates, replace the maximizer with a 1/3 octave EQ and see if they don't serve you well with a nice tone. Mad Max and I have been running Carvin boxes and DCM amps for years and we've never had a failure. :)

Oh, and get a DBX compressor/limiter. It's a lot less expensive than repairing or replacing blown cabinets. ;)

Cam,

Maybe a total step in in order?? SRX would be a good choice i believe...
