I use an external micro keyboard and trackball mouse, and a USB-C monitor (about 15" from memory). I've always preferred the laptop to be hidden away. I'm upgrading this year, keep the older laptop as backup, and going with a mini PC and a UPS of some sort permanently mounted inside a rack...

I used to have a similar box of tricks. Big one that I always thought maybe one day I could use was white chalk. Great for covering up marks on a white wedding dress.

Force 1.0 from AI Lightshow blew my mind when it first launched. Then everything went quiet, some speculated they were done and never really got past the basic launch. Then this year, they turn up at DJX in full force, and are now talking about Force 3.0 (what happened to 2.0 I wonder). But...

Except it's bad when a website goes down.

Can't believe the same attitudes argue to defend the same sort of head-in-the-sand mentality that was around 20+ years ago. There are NO industry get-togethers in New Zealand. So I travel to the USA. Admittedly, it's getting harder to find material on stage that really "pops" for me the...

What if they didn't? :D Sure, a few might not make it but they'll quickly get used to having to explain it. My own cousin got married a few years ago, I saw her less than a year later and commented on the absence of her new husband.... how was I to know they had already split? But nobody ran...

2.4 GHz is the devil, right? The way they sell it, it's not as susceptible to interference or drops like "normal" 2.GHz equipment. They claim it's nothing like wireless tech we've seen before.

I recently updated my main DJ website (I run more than a dozen sites across 3 businesses). I was doing speed tests with https://pagespeed.web.dev/ - same same. But the BIGGEST help I got was from the $20 a month Chat GPT plan. I explained who I was, what my business was, how I look after...

Has anyone investigated SKAA technology? If you believe the brochure, it is less compressed, long-range, and low-latency. Zero drop outs, not affected by the number of cellphones in the room, super long-life on a single charge less scared of water (ever had wireless mic issues next to a...

This right here is gold. Love your clients, and they will love you back. I too have historic clients that I now consider friends. I was invited to a 40th birthday of a past groom - as a guest. At the party, I socialised with his sister (did her wedding) and his sister in law (did her...

I've taken months to get around to participating. A lot of you will know me, even though I'm not the ONLY DJ in New Zealand. A lot of familiar names here. I did sightseeing and had dinner with @sawdust123 in Los Angeles in 2002. I have possibly met many others at Mobile Beat or maybe ARMDJS...
