Makes NO DIFFERENCE NOW... literally 10 seconds ago, we got a call. The WEDDING will be there, but the reception has been moved to Belair, MD. And they aren't expecting guests to attend the ceremony.

So they are gonna fish then do the ceremony and high tail it to Belair to accommodate God Mom and yas? That is so cool.

Papa pretend it is where they live you will enjoy the day much better. What made them choose the location? Other family members living there?

I'll add the following:

Think about it this way too....

If they had desided to have their wedding on Chucks little rock out there in the ocean, would that make a difference or is it just the whole backwoods redneck thing?

Most likely I would go, but as for the food I'd just make sure I stopped at Burger King before the wedding and had a nice juice double Whooper.

Guess that nixes some of the negatives.... :tricool:

Nope. Wedding one week, reception the next.

I wouldn't go there either. I've been to Hawaii. Too far away, and too expensive. IMO, I think destination weddings are rather selfish - expecting people to spend all that money to get to it, and stay there. Heck, I won't even DJ more than 100 miles away, without a boatload of cash coming my way.

Papa,

Be of good cheer. They trusted you to honor you with a god son (your wife's yes, but she's yours so he is too!). However, the way you are talking now, you will NOT have a good time. You've already decided. So, good luck.

My way of thinking: If you believe you won't have a good time, you won't. If you look for the good, you'll find it in droves.

Dave

ps. Who knows. You may try some great veggie dish and discover a spice that you don't know about!

I hear the words "no meat" and "vegan" and that is when I say "I'm out!!!"

Which town on the border is it?

So somebody bring a goat for Rick to dance with:triwink: and then bar-b-q it, this way all the conivores will be happy. Problem solved, except the drive part.

I have no problem with destination weddings as a matter of principle, I just get irked when they either blow their wad or (worse) act like they did on the wedding venue and other aspects, and then want to lowball the dj and/or other vendors.

No breaks from this dj if I have to travel both ways as long (or longer) than I'm gonna actually be performing. In fact, you're going to pay extra for the honor of my presence! :tricool:

i'd catch my own meat throw it on the bbq and have a feast

lets see..... snake, goanna, emu, kangaroo, turtle soup,
well thats just about do me :)

that was my first thought, too Dave...

Papa. it seems as if you really don't WANT to go (for several reasons)
which is okay, because your reasons seem to be justified in this case!
It also seems as if the ONLY reason you WOULD go is becuase of the Godfather thing.
So send a card, send a gift, send some money!

Dave is right.....
"...If you believe you won't have a good time, you won't. ..."
so you won't be doing the bride and groom any favors by going and NOT having fun

So Papa is it over or still waiting ????

Oh no... it is next summer.. but they also moved the reception to a "normal" venue, that is only about 75 miles from where I live... still going to be a vegetarian menu, though.

That's OK. I don't mind vegetables. As long as it isn't VEGAN, I should be fine.
