Why not use your old one -- it works fine right?
Drivers being developed for new hardware, are targeting Vista/Win 7 -- software development is targeting Vista/Win 7.
It's just a matter of time and necessity before you NEED to upgrade -- might just as well do it now, and get on the bandwagon...

as soon as Itunes stops working with XP, that is when I will switch, until then, I have no need to.

Patrick, I would normally say that's cool -- I mean heck, I'm still driving the same car after 16 years... But, I very rarely drive, and when I do, it's up the street to pick up some beer.
I use a computer 12-16 hours a day, and that's how I make my living -- I believe you pretty much do the same.
So, I look at it this way -- If I were a framing carpenter, I could still use a regular hammer and get the job done. But, the guy with a framing nail gun, is gonna walk all over me, do a more efficient job, and be more in demand -- thereby taking away my work, and making more money than I do.
If you use a computer for a majority of your work, I believe you should be up to speed, and not living in the past...

You are correct Rick, I am about the computer about 18 hours a day, but the thing is, I don't do things that are really complicated on it. 95% of the time, I am on my netbook and the desktop is completely turned off.
I am not the type of guy to upgrade just because a new version is out. There needs to be a legit reason for me to upgrade, and at this point, there is no real reason for me to change. If next year, some of the programs I use (Itunes or Firefox) start to require 7, then I will have no choice but to do so. But right now, it is just not a practical need for me to switch.

One thing I would do though, is see if you can find a copy of the RC1 for Win 7 (they're still floating about the net). The RC1 is still good till March, and is free.
Set it up as a dual boot on one of your systems, so that when you have some time, you can get familiar with it.
There will come a time soon, when you want some new neat hardware, or some new software, that will not have support for XP. At that point, if you really want it, you will be forced to upgrade. At least you will be familiar with the OS, and not have to scramble...

What problems are you hearing about Dennis?
The only thing I have really heard/seen is systems running slow but in every case it's been because of trying to run an old machine with the new OS. You can't put a lawnmower engine in a Caddilac
Dennis always hears nothing but problems, yet, can rarely elaborate.
I'm still waiting for my copy of Windows 7 to come in the mail so I can give it a test run.

No way. I hate Vista, but that was because it was much slower. It crashed. And it was far more annoying than 7.
Same here. I filled out the online stuff and sent in the copy of the receipt months ago. I get an email saying it was approved and i should be getting it on or about Oct 22. Almost a month later,,,still nothing. I go to the website...it says my status is "approved" but nothing has shipped yet.
:sqerr:Isn't that something that you could have always done with even Windows 95? Just open your Browser with a web page then open browser again with another web page and resize each on the same screen to your liking!
