Windows 7... so far it doesn't suck.

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
not in my xp version they have to get round the modem firewall first which at times I cant get out because I set it too high lol

so no way are they I have had a few hackers try mine and not be able to get in!!

Good one! But i think you can get a small discount for the upgrade version.

i dunno. I think I'll wait a couple of months for more reviews to come out. I may be paranoid but i NEVER buy a new version of software if I can help it. Back from my days of programers who told me "never buy a zero version of anything released*

Windows 7, is simply Vista 2 -- so it's not a zero version :)

Very stable -- I've only seen a couple issues with some old drivers meant for XP. One thing very cool, is that if something does crash it (like my Denon 2500 with old firmware in MIDI mode), it recovers gracefully, all by itself.

Obviously a lot of thought went into utilizing Vista's advanced core, and making it easy for the Amish XP holdouts to use it... :D
 
I've been running it for about a month now, and I'm really liking it! The only thing that's really annoyed me was the DRM included with it. As part of copyright protection they disable the "Stereo Mix" recording option so that you cannot use a program like Audacity for example to record sounds/music playing from youtube, or from another program.

I usually do this re-recording process when iTunes's "Clean" versions aren't up to my standards. I record the song into audacity, clean it up, then export it as a high quality MP3.

Although its easily fixable, if anyone needs help on that shoot me a PM!

I've got the RC running on both my Windows machines now. Although I use my Mac for most day to day stuff, the RC has been rock solid. Still cannot find drivers for my laptop's microphones though, not that I use them anyway.

I was going to do the whole upgrade dance and max out my RAM on both machines but am figuring that since both machines are coming up on the 2 year old mark I'll just buy a new laptop next year and use it as my main machine with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse then disconnect it and pack it up for when I'm out and about. As it is now I've got three computers with a total 5 different operating environments it's just a major PITA to keep everything sync'ed between them all. I could swear I spend more time sync'ing files and making sure I have backups then doing productive stuff.

Eventually my current desktop is going to get the largest HD I can afford and format it with the OEM image (Vista) add a TV tuner and use it as a DVR. The laptop which already has a DOA battery will go to Mom with an external monitor so that she can play her games on it replacing the Pentium 4 machine. I may pull that one back in my room and throw Ubuntu on it then use it as basically a dumb file server.

No go on any free upgrades on any of our machines even though we bought the wife's machine during the correct time period. It's just not a covered machine. I was looking at maybe upgrading on my home computer that is about 7-8 years old. According to the Windows 7 Advisor program, it just makes the grade.

But MS works from the inside and goes out....Much easier that way

You won't be very happy with 7 if you do.....You need the horsepower or it runs really poor
 
Finally got my windows 7 upgrade the other day. Just been a few days, but so far, pretty good.
