Does anyone know any DVD software that is compatible to Windows 7? It seems this didnt come with any DVD player software in it. Thanks.

Mike

you asking for playing dvds or ripping dvds ??

Playing. I have all the add-ons for Windows Media 12, but it still wont play DVDs. I tried to download HP DVD Play, but it says my computer isnt compatable for it. I had it before I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista.

What happens when you put a DVD in?

Does Windows pop up and ask if you want to play this with WMP?

If not, go to the Play menu in WMP 12, and click on the DVD, VCD, CD play option, and see if it opens it...

When I put a DVD in, it says it cant play this format. In the menue, it has a DVD tab, and everything is set in it, including the Region 1.

I can't believe that a new machine didn't come with a DVD drive. That's weird.[/Q

I bought this computer 3 years ago,a nd it does have a DVD burner in it. Ive used it before many time copying DVDs from my camcorder. I just upgraded it from Vista to Windows 7 2 weeks ago,a nd it wont play DVDs now for some reason. This also HAD HP DVD Play 3.7 (I think) in it, and it played DVDs just fine. But now it wont.

Have you looked around for upgraded drivers for Win 7, that support that drive...?

Perhaps it's a proprietary driver for that drive (the HP stuff you mention), and it's not compatible with Win 7 drivers... :dontknow:

I'm betin' this is the case....

It's probably not a codec issue but a driver issue.... go to the PC or Drives website and see if there are updated drivers for Win7 as Rick suggests... then if that still doesn't fix it try getting a codec as Hank suggests.
