Rockit doesn't install over previous versions.
The trial version of V5 will install to a new folder, and be a clean install.
BTW, I should probably mention this...
The Trial version of V5 is meant for the masses. It doesn't attempt to find old versions and copy stuff, etc. It also cannot be unlocked like the old versions.
It is simply a trial, and will expire after a certain amount of time (not just session wise), and the audio quality will degrade over that period of time.
The full version, which you will get if you purchase -- will find any V4 versions of Rockit you have, and copy over all the good stuff, etc. It will also track your registration, so we can detect piracy. In other words, if you give your full download version to someone else, we reserve the right to disable your copy, as well as theirs. It can also detect changes to its internal self, and start degrading itself if hacked or cracked.

I can answer a few of the questions from my experience:
It works fine under Windows XP for me.
It think it uses all of the skins from V4, at least all of the ones that I tried. I put a few hours into both CDJ400 & DJM10. However, the old skins don't utilize the new properties window.

I have 2 back up computers that also have Version 4.2 on them. Can I put Version 5 on both of them, or just one computer?
You can add the InfoWnd to the old skins. But how it comes out, depends on the skin design. The InfoWnd doesn't have to be below the tracklist -- it can be anywhere. But it was designed to be below, because of the new splitter bar on the V5 skins. It has the ability to detect if it is under the tracklist, so you should be able to put it anywhere.
BTW, Scott picked up on something weird involving the sound card setups this morning, and I was able to put in a fix, and rebuild before release this afternoon.

V5 is slightly different...
One main computer, one backup computer.
I am trying to play nice, because I know people need backups, but only one backup is allowed. If the Mothership finds more, we reserve the right to disable all copies associated with that account, including the main copy.

I purchased the 5.0 upgrade and my main reason for sticking with Rockit is when you call the help line number - Rick actually answers the phone! Your program rocks Rick but I do have a request for the next upgrade - Equalizer presets please!!!!
So I can upgrade and still have the option to use V4.2 if I so choose?

Copy the XML skin mapper and the skin folder, and it should show up in the skin browser.

Great. Thanks for the info. Still working on format transfer of WMA files. Turning out to be a little bit of a PITA.

You wanna know why I like that skin? All the ques I can throw songs into, and still be able to see them all at a glance. Maybe I'll start playing with custom skins. I actually prefer the look of Dark Wood.
Are you still supporting 4.2? I'd like to resolve that video issue at some point.

I don't recall at the moment exactly what the issue was -- but I think it had something to do with running a slideshow. You need to give me a call, so we can walk through it together on the phone, and I can figure out what yer doing wrong...
It cannot be the software's fault, because I wrote it while reading Steve's (Thunders) posts, which he wrote while paddling across the Atlantic with Davy Crockett, in a canoe made of concrete -- and sent via two soup cans attached with string...
OK Rick mine does not work. I have uninstalled 3 times and I keep getting that it has stopped working. My V4.2 works fine but this one won't
Try starting it and selecting the DJ-100 skin.
I've had a couple folks who have had issues, but I am unable to duplicate it in-house on my test machines. Seems to have something to do with the new skin controls on certain machines.
Im not sure what happened with mine last night, but, I had it running non stop today for 9 1/2 hours and never shut down on me. Last night was a different story. I only had it running for less than an hour and it stopped working. I went through all the skins, and had the text on all day, and now its working great. I deleted it last night and reinstalled it, and works great now. I guess it might have been some kind of glitch in my system, I dont know. Rick, I thank you for your help on that too. You made a great software.
