Rickie...........

Would it complicate things to allow the jukebox to minimize? Since RockIt logs any song into history that is played in the main decks even if you are just screening or listening to a song, I've been successfully utilizing the jukebox. (I want to have a clean & accurate playlist at the end of the night.)

Actually, the jukebox does minimize (sort of). It doesn't lose anything it's doing when you close it. The window never actually closes, it just gets hidden from view -- it's running all the time in a background thread. :)

I have a shortcut key setup on mine (Ctrl+J), which pops it in and out of view.

I did add a new command for the next version though, which is called Sample in the Jukebox. :)

Hey Rick,

Once the new version is out, will the current one still be available for purchase for those of us who want to stay with a simpler one?

I would think it would have to be a MAJOR upgrade / rewrite to warrant any extra funds as most DJ software have updates improvements all the time.

Especially in a recession.

And besides Rico does not work that hard he's busy with Beer & Movies :sqlaugh:

It's all about keeping your existing customers and getting NEW ONES !!!

Shoot, you folks raise yer prices every year (if not more) -- I only raised my prices once since 2000 :sqcool:

It's my turn now :)

Actually, I was busy with the snow blower today.

After struggling for a couple hours, and wondering why it wasn't working very well, I finally figured out what those extra shear pins are for (after I was done of course) :sqerr:

Probably should've read the manual :sqlaugh:

Course, now that I figured it out -- there probably won't be any more snow storms this year...

BTW, as to the question of different versions, I highly doubt it... Too much work to maintain separate versions, and too much probability for error. I always support the older versions, so some folks still use them -- but no upgrades or anything.

Well I got my RICO fix for today..

That was funny:sqlaugh:

How about an "Italian" add campaign something like Rico's Rockit Revolution

"We make you an offer you can't refuse" $99.00 forever :sqcool:

Hmmm, I like that...

BTW, Rockit is getting locked down to hardware -- one of the reasons for my taking my time on this upgrade.

Losing way too much money, to hackers giving it away (some are even selling it) :sqeek: :sqfrown:

You will have to activate on a given machine, much like Vista -- either via an internet connection, or over the phone. More work on my end, but considering my Mother Ship stats show only about 17% of people using Rockit, have actually paid for it -- I decided to hire a mall cop :sqcool:

I would recommend (3) Installs and a way to transfer licenses or uninstall / reinstall over the web.

I'm not going to have any issues having it on both my home desktop and my lappy, am I?

No, same terms apply. You will just need to get the activation codes for each, via the internet or phone.

I understand it is a PITA both for users, and more so for me -- but, I really need to get a handle on the shoplifters... It's gotten way outta hand!

Your going to need a few BETA testers :sqbiggrin::sqbiggrin:

That's me on the left.......

New skin available :)

Since a lot of folks are now getting the little netbooks for backup purposes (and some even using for normal), I figured I should have at least one skin that fits them. 1024 x 600, which seems to be the normal resolution for the little guys.

Just a quicky, not too fancy, but all the major stuff is on there. You can find it here:

http://rockitprodj.softjock.com/rockitprodj-skins.htm

BTW, I attached an external to my little MSI, and actually got it to display in 1024 x 768. It said it was an invalid size, but switched to it anyway -- works fine - YMMV on whatever one you have :)

Would really like to have Rocket run in FULL SCREEN mode Automatically or at least have 1280 X 1024 etc in the next release...

Rockit can't auto adjust the skin to fit a screen size -- it would not only look really strange, but Rockit has no idea what controls are on screen, and what size they are. The skin is built on startup, and each control acts as its own entity -- they aren't Facebook friends with each other... :)

The easiest way to get the resolution you want (other than building your own skin), is to change your screen resolution. Find a 4:3 (or 16:9 depending) aspect ratio skin you like, and change your resolution to match it -- it only takes a couple clicks. Then you change it back after the gig if you like :)

One of these is next on my agenda... Will be better than using my iPod for Bubble Parties, I imagine.

Rockit works very well on mine, albeit the Atom processor is not the fastest thing on the planet, and the display is not incredibly robust. You'll see the differences in sorting, and things like that, that take a lot of horseypower.

For audio, it seems to work very well though -- no glitches or anything. Certainly a big step above the iPod, and not that much difference in price :)

Rick,

What is/are the brand/specs of your netbook?

Your humble servant and beta tester,

Booch

Hi Rick,

Ok, here is my wish list for Rockit.

1. When you search for a track, you lose the letters you typed after hitting enter each time. For me because I often search only using the fewest letters possible, it's nice to narrow the search by adding one more letter to the previous search.

2. As you search the library it keeps narrowing the search as you type. Type L, all songs with L, then O all songs with LO and so on.

3.Pitch and Tempo

4.When Q-ing a song, it would be great to hear the music, to find the exact spot where you want to save a Q or start the song.

5. Auto mix from Q-A to Q-B, where did it go. For me I don't want to have to load the songs in two or three different Q spots. Please bring it back or at least have it as an option for AUTO MIX.

6. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see in 4.1 where you can choose the color of the text, color of the buttons, color of the back ground, color of the slider, color of meter bar, etc. In Rockit 3.2, older version, I have a black background and lime green text and I find it the easiest to see day or night. Please let me know if I am missing that feature in the new skins.

7. This might be related to 6. The progress bar doesn't go from green-yellow-red.

8. Load delay, In Rockit 3.2 I have it set at 30sec. If I want or need to change the song at the last second I can, and I have 30sec. to do it. If I get a last second request or the mood on the dance floor changes quickly I have time, again maybe I'm missing something in 4.1

I know we covered some of these things but you asked me to send it, and I thought of a couple of things after we spoke. I still think Rockit is the best DJ software for me, I guess some of these features would make easer to use and give me more options at a gig.

Long live Rick.

Best regards,

George McDonald

You have to wait until I finish my laundry and dishes George... :sqlaugh:

I'll jump back in here later with really cool answers (or BS), after said laundry and dishes, a few more beers, and some Frisbee with Faith... :)
