Rick,
Interesting...I didn't know that about the software and hard drives.

On the customized box, I'm only looking at building it for the Bose Tonematch and my backup laptop. The HP Touchsmart would sit right beside it as it would on a desk. Since it appears that I can adjust the angle of the screen, I believe that I should be able to see it okay.

With the Tonematch, all I need is one USB port and then the power cord on the Touchsmart so it will be a pretty easy setup.

I just re-read my previous post and I did say I was going to build a case for the Touchsmart..duh!

Thanks,

DJ Dave

I tried to keep the new library format as small as possible, so it would load and save quicker, and sort and search faster. :

My experience with conventional searching in windows explorer had me worried about using DJ software and being able to find a tracks fast enough.

This is lightning fast(1500 MP3 tracks in my library) and I will now be ripping the rest of my CDs. I don't know why I waited so long.

I'll see you guys in a couple of months...

I'm only on page 5 of this thread so far...

Rick, you'll be happy to know one of the first things I did was print out the manual!

What's in Rocket 4.2 & When

Folks:

I thought I would stir the pot a little and prompt "Rico" for what is going to be in the next Release of Rocket.

I'm not sure if others have a wishlist and perhaps they could add to the list:

Mine would be :

1) Support for direct importing / exporting of M3U standard play lists.

2) Dynamic screen resizing..

3) A SKINS development tool for newbies

4) Support for multi port sound cards so only (1) card (cable) is necessary from my laptop to mixer.

Like Audiofire2 (Firewire)

http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/FireWire/AudioFire2/index.php

And of course my Gigaport AG (USB) so I can monitor as well as play all my channels with just the one card. Rick says he supports this but I have not tried it yet.

5) And a nice to have : A "File Verification" & "Tag checking" tool that would scan and validate all MP3 file etc for use with Rocket etc.

I am sure others have even better ideas..

We have to give Rick something to do (He's regressing quickly) :sqlaugh:

What I look like -- slave...? :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

Besides, ya spelled Rockit wrong twice -- no soup for you... :D

That's just to see if anyone was watching GOOD WORK !!!

"Rockit" is a hit song recorded by Herbie Hancock.

A rocket or rocket vehicle is a missile, aircraft or other vehicle I thought the software was supposed to be FAST

Besides I was thinking Hockey you can't blame me, because "I AM CANADIAN" (Molson time)

Now can we have a general meeting about this : HAHAHAHHA !!!:sqwink:

Rick looks like no one cares about ROCKIT except you and me and I'm not sure about you

Huh, what'd ya say...? I was nodding out here...

Talk about yer Maytag repair man... :sqcool:

Wait, I love Rockit. I really want a clock!!! I like Allens Idea of one USB cable with a larger card though, that would be sweet!!

Rockit's alive and well, thank you

It's in the delicate process of getting a secondary decoder added to it. The second decoder is necessary, in order to do some new stuff, and for future compatibility with Vista/Win7's new abilities. It will retain the old decoder as well, and be able to switch modes.

Have patience -- I suspect it will be worth the wait... ;) :)

Give me the Skinny on Skinning

I'm still exploring options on software to either take the place of OtsAV or at the very least become a back up to OtsAV in case it get's hosed in the middle of a show...

Why do all the programs I've looked at including VDJ and RockIt use .BMP files for their skins?

Wouldn't a .jpeg be less taxing on a system? or even a .png?

Thoughts?

Nah -- internally, they get rendered as bitmaps either way -- the jpg or png images (or whatever), just get turned into a bitmap (Windows native display format) -- so it actually takes more resources to use them. They're only good for transmission over the net, to cameras, etc.

The bitmaps take up more disk space, but much less processing and rendering time ;) :)

I did not know that... I always knew bitmaps took up more space but didn't know that they took less to process over jpeg and other formats. Good to know....

See you can teach an old dog new tricks every once in a while. :sqwink:

God I hope so...

Booch

Ha! You realize of course, that my last upgrade was only 4 1/2 months ago :sqcool:

Be happy I don't live in Australia -- I'd be out surfing with the OTS guys, and you wouldn't see the next upgrade until 2015... :sqlaugh:

That's a LOT OF BEER !!!!!!!!!:sqcool:

You should switch to Canadian beer the BUZZ will be sooner / stronger and you can work on ROCKIT faster. ( Effeciency at all costs)

I just can't wait

Rickie...........

Would it complicate things to allow the jukebox to minimize? Since RockIt logs any song into history that is played in the main decks even if you are just screening or listening to a song, I've been successfully utilizing the jukebox. (I want to have a clean & accurate playlist at the end of the night.)
