So as some of you might now - I've made some changes to the setup. I've done away with a "truss setup". Didn'y need it for most of the events I do; so I've gone to a single T bar/truss arrangement.

Bought some stuff from Ben (Chauvet Eclipse) and a datastream 4....rearranged the racks...Getting there ????

As usual; commenst, questions always welcomed....

If they are trying to be inconspicuous then those black skirt covers defeat the purpose. They are overwhelming, its the first thing you see. Is the fabric acoustical transparent? If not, then some of the soundwaves from the subs are being blocked. Just saying.

is that a dell insprion 1525 laptop? i have 2 of them and love them..also is that a numark cm 200 mixer?

It is a 1525...never an issue with it... 1 gig of ram in it. XP Home...I put a 320 gig drive in it.and yes that's a CM200 usb.....It's my back up...the supposedly infallable Denon X-500 is in for warranty repair. The Numark only has one usb card working and I have to use the cd input on channel 1 (line is out)...It's had a rough life, unlike the Denon which has but 10 gigs on it...Go figure

That's a lot of stuff Steve. I'm glad I keep it simple. At least you cover it well.
(also not a fan of the stand drapes)

I still don't undertsand why some of us bring so much gear. I just did a recital at the theater below with four speakers(2 powered, 2 passive), one amp and my custom console. I ran the stuff at 50% and it rocked the house.

After 15 months, the mic 1 channel button on my X 500 stopped working - a not uncommon problem with this mixer so I've heard.

Oh well, $93.00 later it's all good again.

Steve, it looks great, but that's a lot of wires and such.

I'm too old to keep track of all that.

I'm with Hank on keeping it clean and simple.

BTW, I have that same Dell laptop as well - five years in and not one problem as it's never seen the internet.

I find the scrims mask the ugliness of the tri-pods...but hey...that's just my opinion

Personally, I think the tripods look much better, then imparting the season of the witch into peoples brains... ;)

Every time I see them things, I start laughing, and picture a bunch of flying monkeys around castle walls, people melting, broomsticks, crystal balls, and cool stuff like that...

Was DJ Dennis your mentor...? You two seem to have about the same amount to say... yorofl:

Those speaker skirts are tacky. I think it's more visually offensive to see the lappie lids, especially the mac light. It somehow takes away from the magic of the show. Just my opinion.

It seems that Lappy is a workhorse. I bought mine in Jan 2006 and still using it!

How is the mirror ball attached to the top of your tripod stand? Also, I not sure I'm a big fan of the tripod covers but if I needed to use them at a wedding, I don't think I would go with black - too depressing!:tricool:

Hank - I ask myself that after every set up/strike. I'm one of those guys who feel you have to have lights.....

That's a lot of stuff Steve. I'm glad I keep it simple. At least you cover it well.

The reviews are in (unsolicted btw)...This is what really counts: :yoTongue:

"I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how impressed we were with the services you provided to us last night. Your DJ equipment and light show was impressive, but even more important was your choice of music for the event.

It was fantastically done! Thank you so much!

When we plan our next event we will definitely call you and if you ever need a letter of reference, I’d be more than happy to provide one.

Thank you again!"

Yup, at the end of the day all that matters is that the client is happy. Good work there Steve.

I too, am not a fan of tripod skirts, especially streched out spandex. If it was white, it would look like a girdle or a slip.
Personally, I think gear looks better when it's all rack mounted with all cords & wires inside... out of sight.

Anymore, when I see a facade, 95% of the time they tend to say "Please pardon my mess"

The amount of wires is relative to the gear brought to an event; Bill are you all wireless? You must have some wires coming out of your rack?

I don't see a facade and I think...."ugly - detracts from the aesthetics of the room".........but then again, I'm a dj....
