One Of The Reasons That Led Me To Do What I Do

Growing up, I listened to all the great jocks on the radio, and thought - "How cool would it be to do that for a living?"

My Dad always told me to follow my dreams, so when I decided to go to college to get my degree in Communications in the radio and television field, it was jocks like this one that I wanted to emulate. I got my start in radio in 1980, but I remember hearing this jock on an air check from California in 1972(KCBQ to be specific), and was just hooked in a big way. To me, this is what a real radio jock is supposed to sound like, but alas, now all we seem to have is canned, boring jocks with no personality.

Enjoy -

Much like DJ Chat Boards where DJ,s with personalities that are different are banned or not accepted into the fold. I am sure the Radio Host had a personality that caused the station to have problems with advertisers or listeners and thus started the downward spiral to canned boring jocks with no personalities

MBM

Thunder

Cap

Port A Potty

Miss them.

Some people are just different for the sake of annoying others/getting their jollies off. Those folks eventually find the door.

MBM = forget what happened with him he isn't banned as far as I can tell.
Thunder = left on his own he's welcome back.
Cap = is still a member and logs in regularly just doesn't post. This one is my fault.
Port-a-Potty = Dunno who that is.

What do you think Howard Stern does?

So what is wrong in pointing out the flaws in someones train of thought? Of course they will see it as annoying but it doesn't mean it's not a true observation.

I am not saying a DJ Chat Board has to be a free for all and there are limits to what is acceptable banter between DJs. Any information is better then no information as long as we give the reader the benifit of the doubt that they can follow a thread and make a informed decission on what they are reading.

How did Howard Stern get into this? At least he's entertaining.

It's a lot easier to make an informed decision when the reader knows who's doing the informing. Personally, I find it very suspect that a DJ with experience as vast as some profess would make grandiose claims want to remain anonymous then stuff that anonymity in peoples faces but hey that's just me.

Has anybody heard from Thunder (Steve)...?

If I recall correctly:

All of the first 3 committed forum suicide in Bose or karaoke threads...

Reminds me, we're about due for a new Tommy O post... xf:D
I pissed Steve off real good by mimicking his !!!!!'s to make a 'stronger' point via PM. Couldn't help myself it was during the height of the KJ BS and I was just tired of being beat over the head with he said she said silly logic. He asked for his account to be deleted. I obliged.

I still like the guy heck I even miss him sometimes.

Couple more years down the road y'all will be talkin' 'bout me too! "I wonder what happened to that Dude from Texas?" ;)

Dan

Doesn't matter to me if they have the best Web Site anybody has ever seen

Doesn't matter if they are guest speakers at a DJ Convention

Doesn't matter to me their pedigree that got them to where they are in the DJ Business

Doesn't matter to me if they are loved by everyone on the Chat Board

So to me if someone is anonymous shouldn't really matter.

What should matter is the post you are reading and what it is trying to say.

That's my take on that.

Example: Who is that guy that has DJ advertising in a bunch of states and has terrible reviews yet he is making a decent living doing what most DJs despise. He is probably banned from every DJ Board but to what purpose does that serve. We know he exists out there and I would rather see his posts and maybe gain a nugget of information that might help me counter what he does then go around with my head in the sand not knowing.

Don't matter to you. Many others would beg to differ.

Thing is being a community we tend to read not only what people are saying but like to know the person behind the post.

Dan.....................You know me as well as you know anyone that you haven't met before.

Have you met everyone on this community?

To what degree do you want to know them?
