One Of The Reasons That Led Me To Do What I Do

As someone in radio I will give Jo Jo Kincaid credit. He was very good at what he did. With this being said he is PUUUKING! Hey everybody, playin the stacks of wax, the platters that matter! I'd rather hear someone with personality who doesn't sound like they're on meth...lol

but THAT was common practice in radio when THAT video was made.
the PUKERS made the big bucks.
if they were still on the air today, they'd be makin OTHERS puke.
(trust me, I know a few who still do it. and some of them do it as MOBILE DJ's!)
Radio has changed since then, Cesar...just like TV
(and fashion, and technology, and music.....)

My dad was a big personality in western Ks in the 1970 on the big "Q" station Hays. In fact...in western KS he may have been the only personality.

All jokes aside, he really was good. He dodged a big time promotion in the KC market due to his battles with alcohol and left radio all together. I still remember listening to his voice on the radio. He could do breakfast zoo type stuff anyday....prolly better any day he was drinking. But that's for another thread.

He bragged once about playing on Bang and Olufsen turntables. The conversation ended when I asked what they were.

Agreed, there is a reason the pukers went the way of the dinosaur...

I'm was more of a fan or Casey Kasem and Rick Dees. I always tried to imitate them. I think that was my passion to get into radio. I've worked for Clear Channel and a couple of local stations part time. I back to working part time at my local station which needs some major improvements but I'm back in the radio biz part time. If i wasn't so young and dumb I probably could have made a run at it. I'm told I have that radio voice so maybe one day I'll make it full time...just gotta keep reaching for the stars!

Having a "radio voice" means nothing if you don't have the ability to entertain. Not saying you don't but just keep that in mind. Content is king. If you can entertain a lot in a little amount of time you'll do well regardless of voice.

I believe I can do that. Though I am still my own worst critic. Thanks for the advice though!
