This last saturday i did the 2nd annually daddy/daughter dance...last year it was packed with 125 or so this year they moved it to a bigger, and newer location.....close to 225 dads and daughters in attendance.

At one point we played "I Loved Her First" no one sitting for that....heck no one sat hardly at all the girls wanted alot of highschool musical and dads were all smiles....to bad the camera quit working......a great 2 hour show with lots of smiles and laughter.....my hats off to the dads for staying on the floor with the girls....now I know why I do this.....just for these kinda special moments

Want to end a Father/Daughter Dance with class and tenderness?

Make the last song "You Are So Beautiful."

Well, I meant my suggestion seriously but if you want to make light of it, I can always just delete my post and forget about helping.

I like it Ill remember that one for next year

Thanks for taking my suggestion in the spirit intended.

I attended one of these with my daughter in the past and it was the best event I was ever a part of. I will be going to her sweet 16 in May and might even DJ a little gathering. Whatever I end up doing, dancing with her and requesting the last dance will be ''You Are So Beautiful'' will be my mission for the day. Thanks Bryan!

Another good "closer" is Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman...and I thought butterfly kisses was a tear jerker this one takes the cake!

"Cinderella" is a nice song. It's on PrimeCuts HP200805 02-01-08.

She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sitting here wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone.

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancin'
"Oh please, daddy , please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

But she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says, "Dad the wedding's still six months away but I need to practice my dancin'
"Oh please, daddy , please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

That replacement does nothing to clarify your intent, sir. You have gotten on my bad side. Elucidate your thoughts or be ignored.

My 2 cents here, Bryan I think you've over reacted a TON on this one. So Cal just made a light hearted comment (like happens on EVERY thread on this board....almost all threads here get hijacked with personal/funny/inside story type comments) and you jumped down his throat. To be honest I think the only person that needs to elucidate (and I don't even know what that means) their thoughts or comments is you.

my 2....fire away :)

This thread started with the spirit of fun and sentimentality. My wife and I don't have any kids--which is by design, actually, but that is a topic for another thread--but I consider the relationship between a father and daughter to be unique, and for a dad to accompany his daughter to a dance specifically targeted to this special relationship deserves a bit of appreciation from the father to his daughter.

Hugh even chimed in with this:
Some of my all time favorite memories are Daddy/Daughter dances. I never had a daughter and always wanted one, so they are a tender moment for me.
So I chimed in with something that has worked marvelously for me at Father-Daughter Dances. Something that caps off the evening with a great tribute from the dads to their daughters.

Then Hugh torpedoed my suggestion with a flippant comment. I can be as lighthearted and jocular as anyone else, but I considered his remark to be detrimental to the spirit of this thread and specifically to my suggestion, which was given to help out other DJs as something to end the dance on a deservedly sweet and sentimental note.

When Hugh continually categorically refused to see what I objected to, I considered that a slap in my face.

If you cannot see what I objected to, I consider that an insult.

Oh, and "elucidate" means to make clear or plain, especially by explanation; clarify.

From a guy with four daughters AND a sense of humor I still don't see the need to blindside a new member...if we act like other boards, we'll become other boards. Keep things in perspective please, you are talking to perfect strangers for the most part...don't take things so seriously. If he was being an A-hole about things with his post about the Madonna song that's one thing....but you went from point A to point Q with your follow up post...no matter how many big words you used.

Big words? Aren't you an educator? How small is your vocabulary? Are you jealous of mine? What's the use of your snide comment? Oh, sorry. I forgot. Let me rephrase that. Why did you dis me by sayin' that??

I normally would not take something like a little attempt at humor seriously, but you have to remember that he's a newbie here. I've noticed the tone of his posts since he found us. He has come on a little strong for a noob. It's better to read a lot at first, and then post things that fit into our atmosphere here. It's all in the perspective you have.

The reality is that his attempt at humor was made in the wrong place in the wrong thread.

I still think it was funny. Sad that the humor police got involved. It is a good thread, and still is. Just that the subject matter turned to what is acceptable to you. As for being a "noob" (one of the big words?) I whole heartedly say "whatever." Never saw limitations on what could be said by a poster until he/she reached a certain post count. So, I guess I'll just be me and let you be you.

It's off to Ignorville for me, huh?
