I'm telling you Bill its the **** and if your system is 64 bit they now have the drivers for those systems. When the mixer came out it would only work on a 32 bit computer system now that is gone. I love it and its my baby.

For the pioneer DJM-5000, What is the total number of line-in inputs?
I need 2 for my HD2500 & the 2 CD trays) 1 for my laptop; and 1 for a DVD player (audio)
So, I'll need about 6 line-ins, plus 2 mic inputs.
Can the Pioneer do it?
Also, How many rack spaces is it?

The Pioneer DJM-5000 is a great mixer, but be prepared to make a lot of room for it-- it takes up 5+ rack spaces. I say 5-PLUS, because you still need room for your cords! If you put your Denon DN-HD2500 in the same rack, you will need a minimum of 8+ U on your slant rack.

That's good. It's 2 less than what I have now! My present mixer is one of the old MTX series of mixers, the X-5. (7 spaces)
I bought this mixer when MTX demo'd them at the MB Vegas show back in 1999. It has been a GREAT mixer, but one of the channel's are acting up. It has LOTS of inputs.

John1-- I've been seriously considering this mixer. I have a dj friend in Maine (I recently visited last month) and he has this xone. Fantastic is all I can say about...except the price. I'll be scanning for lowest price.

That may well be.... but will spending $1000.00 on a simple mixer going to make you a better DJ or just a poorer one?
But they're worth it
I still love the Behringer DX-1000 and use it for reconverting LP's and singles into .wav files and can mix with the desktop. However the Rane MP.44 I bought should not be mentioned in the same sentence as the Behringer. It's a tank but the sound quality is in another level completely. The feel of the faders and all the adjustments you can make are second to none.
I suppose only a side by side comparison will tell me the real difference.... and since Ben isn't into sending out promo gear I guess I'll just have to get by on my Denon and Mackie gear... Oh well..... $1000.00 saved for something fun..... Like lighting!
I stopped by the locl Guitar Center to check out different mixers. They didn't have the Pioneer model. The ones I did check out felt cheap, I wasn't impressed with them. I'll keep comparing.

I am glad you had the chance to hear and see that A&H board in action. Most mobile DJ's don't understand that the mixer is the brain of their rig and the amps are the heart.
I would not let money be the deterrent from spending on quality gear. Especially a mixer. Some guys would rather spend thousands on lights and 200.00 on a mixer. Big mistake.
I got an awesome deal on my board, so when ever you decide you want one I will send you the name and number of the place I deal with.

My Dell PC laptop is a 32 bit operating system, so I should be okay with the Pioneer?
Just plug it directly into the USB on the mixer?
So I won't need my Sound blaster sound card?

Yep just plug in the usb but also you would need to load there drivers and yes it has a maximzer.
On the Pioneer 5000:
What's the difference between the "line-in" & the "CD-in" ...or are they the same thing?
What is the "digital-in" used for?
