I know a DJ that uses a Bose Sound System.

I understand what you are saying, BUT you can't be everything for everyone.

I've always felt that I do what I do and if they like what I do cool. I may adjust my "pitch" when I am talking to them, but I do what I do, and I hope that they like it.

Here is a story from years ago, I used to wear red leather & suede shoes. I liked it and it was my business colors,,, anyway, I am walking through the crowd at a wedding one time and an older guy flips out, starts yelling at me because I am wearing the "devil colors" at a wedding. How could I possiblit do that?

I look at him and say "if you don't like my shoes, you are going to hate this...." I open my tux jacket which I had re-lined with red satin... I thought he was going to die! I thought it was funny.....

anyway, I told this story to a DJ bud and he said why would I want to wear something that would offend someone, maybe a potentional client....

I said, if someone doesn't want to hire me because I wear red shoes, then I don't want to DJ their party....

I've been full time for 25 years come October,,,, he is no longer in business,,, hummm,, who's right? ;)

Already ahead of you since I check E Bay quite frequently for that system. I'm not afraid to spend some money to answer my own questions the right system hasn't showed up on E Bay yet.

Just a question? Which post were you thanking? This goes back to my dis like of the automerge double post.

What would it be like to see a Thanks from you on a post calling a DJ a derogatory term because it was placed on that post after you thanked the individual.

No response is needed just a comment for consideration.

You made yourself go out and do all those things, the situation did not.

I find that silly....or let's say "unnecessary" (there is that a nicer adjective for you?).

If you can't do the number of events you need to without costly upgrades, then your problem is not gear related. You're creating an even bigger hurdle for yourself by letting some picky bride influence you in such a way.

It doesn't have to be so complex. I'm telling you this to help, not hurt.

Here is where I usually raise the most ruckus on a chat board.

I perform at a average 125 to 150 Wedding Receptions a year and I am still frustrated that I am not more successful at what I do. So you can see it's not the number of events that is the problem but the thought that a shopping potential client thinks I am a lesser DJ then what I know I am.
 
Hmm well its time to gain him fights in the States no one will fight him in the far East. His opponent backed out and my son offered to fight higher weight classes with no takers. To stay on topic though. Do you think the fighters backed out cause he sells his 30 inch waist or how really good he is at offering up a very dominating skilled package?

I think it was the 30 inch waist. Since the opponents were unable to study his films or prepare for his strengths they probably made their decision based on visual confirmation.

Much like observing the Bose next to a Bass Bin and Top speaker configuration the customer will probable choose what they are accustomed to. The Boss System strength is it own weakness since it it hard to believe that rich sound comes out of that skinny stick.
 
my point was that he is a lean mean fighting machine not a thick steroidal freak and in some cases doesnt fit the STEREO typical champion. They are well aware of his skills however and have fear in the skills not his non typical mma appearance.

As a routine practice, I thank members who have addressed something I posted. For my part it's an aknowlegement. I may not always agree with what's posted... but letting the member know it's appreciated is just good manners. :)
 
The funny thing is I have a bride whose wedding we are doing in 40 days and she says the number one reason she booked us was because we offered the Bose. I'm so glad I bought this system. Buy it Cesar and try it. If you don't like it send it back.

It's the number 1 purchase that we have made that I love. And has helped in the selling of us. Just remember that the bride is always, always looking to make her event the best and the fanciest event around. Sell it to her then whats the problem. Move to the dark side my friend. :sqbiggrin:
 
The Bose has it's place. I think most know that I am not a fan of the L1 system. But I have to give it props. It gives DJ's that may have a back problem, or the older guys that don't use assistants an oppurtunity to keep on gigging with a system that does not weigh a ton.

If they feel the system is pumping up sales then I say good for them. If a groom questions my system because of the Bose. I would just give him a taste of my system in the house or invite him to attend a function to here my system live. I know my system and my talent, that contract will be signed by the end of that meeting.

Nothing wrong with a pair of Eon G2s and a pair of POWERED 18 inch subwoofers.

Here on the west coast, where ALTEC-LANSING began the high-fidelity loudspeaker journey (in Anaheim, CA) the JBL (James B. Lansing) name is EQUALLY known to consumers of BOTH professional and consumer audio.

(My wife's Toyota Avalon has a JBL sound system, for example)


Ditto what the others said about EQUIPMENT.
It ain't the size of your equipment, but HOW you USE it.

And....let me add something interesting:

I get many paying clients who tell me they chose my service BECAUSE I still use the full-fidelity Compact Discs.

Many prospects STILL think that computer DJs are lazy button pushers.
My own wife & daughter have their own opinion about computer DJs, not something I influenced them about.....they unanimously say keep using CDs as long as they ain't broke, don't fix 'em.
