Apple has issued a recall on what it describes as the “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)“ version of its popular laptop. The easiest way to see if your MacBook Pro is affected is to pull up Apple’s support page and enter your laptop’s serial number into the company’s little tool. You can find your MacBook Pro’s serial number any number of ways:

By going to Apple menu > About This Mac
Opening the System Information app

On the underside of the laptop

On the original box it shipped in, next to the barcode

If your laptop is affected, you’ll need to part with it for anywhere from one to two weeks while the company replaces its battery. In other words, this isn’t something the Apple Store will be able to clear up for you in a day. You can, however, take your laptop to the Apple Store, and they’ll send it in for the battery replacement. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can also do the same thing, or you can just mail your laptop in yourself—after you contact Apple Support to start that process.

And they will fix that nasty virus for you too...Oh wait that's Itunes ;)

I have rebuilt soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many Windows PC's (W10) in the last few months due to critical system file corruption (due to an update). This is NOT how a system should run. This is not a hardware issue. It's not a driver issue. It's a Windows issue.

I am thankful for MS though - job security. :)

Since I've gone to W10, haven't had any issues.

I have had one issue this past weekend. My son bought me an Elgato Stream Deck Mini (basically a customizeable keyboard) .. thought it could come in handy for DJing. The app crashes every time I configure it on my gigging laptop. Works fine on my desktop and his setup. I'm sure it's a driver thing or compatibility issue, though all the machines are basically on the same W10 rev.

I've not really noticed a mass amount of issues until recently - and every one is corruption of Windows (W10) system files. Automatic repair has never worked in any instance I've seen it (MS has never really been good at resolving their own issues). You can also forget about 'safe mode' - you need to be in Windows to access safe mode - how does one do that if you can't get into Windows (smh).

I'm convinced that with each new release there are a team of engineers and programmers that sit together and try to find ways to make it more convoluted. I stopped working on others machines for the most part around the release of Win 8 (not because of just coincidental) and although I'm glad I did I'm still pretty lost with solving problems on the newer OS

In January 2020 I'll look for a good commercial replacement for Microsoft Security Essentials. In fact, it would not surprise me one iota if a whole cottage industry springs up who's sole purpose is to keep 7 running. Plus, I'll keep hammering at the Mixxx developers for the few, last, necessary changes that IMHO that program needs, with the hope of eventually moving totally to Linux.

Eventually, the time comes when you have to take a stand against tyranny.

MS will keep Win7 running for those willing to cough up the funds to pay for the support. This will not be cheap and will be a select group of users. Everyone else will be left to fend for themselves. From a security aspect, it would not be wise to remain on and actively use an unsupported OS with known and unknown, unpatched and unaddressed flaws.

Good reminder here to make sure your backs up are up to date, which reminds me, I need to do that.
