There are two screws/wingnuts under the rock n roller you can loosen to slide the frame inwards or outwards. When they say that it slides out to 5 feet, that does not mean you have to use it at that length. You can slide it inwards to four feet if thats what you want. The new R&R R14 looks pretty sweet! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_pevWDMOso
I really wished it compacted to 36 inches but is states, "The frame extends from 42” to 60” in length" on this page: http://www.rocknrollercart.com/blog/2011/11/03/coming-soon-new-r14-rated-at-700-pounds/
I would like to see a 2 foot wide cart extendable to four feet, not five. Just try to negotiate a turn through a hotel kitchen with a 5 foot cart; ain't gonna happen!
The only problem I find with extending my cart beyond 36 inches is the ability to push it up a steep incline when full loaded. Guess I gotta bulk up like Uncle Jon.![]()

I was never impressed with the carts marketed to DJ's. I've had the cart I link to above for over 5 years now without a problem, and I'd buy it again.
You don't have to WAIT to buy this cart, it's available NOW.
Best,
Paul

Tyrone, I respect what each DJ uses as their preference. However, I would like to ask you and those that just use handcarts, do you really think a handcart can carry the amount and load that a Rock n Roller can? I seriously doubt it. Without the support handles on each end, its next to impossible to stack up a bunch of boxes etc on a hand cart (like you would on a Rock n Roller) without first strapping it down. If the handcart wheels were to hit a snag in a carpet or on a rocky pavement its is possible that everything will tumble.Sorry I didn't read every post here, but... I have three of the "Sam's Club" (I assume they are the same as the "Costco" carts) for $80. I use them all the time, and they hold a TON of stuff. The thing I did, was drill a hole in the base plate, then hook a ratchet strap into the hole with one hook, and up on the handle with the other hook. It holds everything stable, and as high as you want.

I have a Rock n' Roller. I find without a platform, they tend to be rather "flimsy" especially when extended. The narrow platform can result in items tipping off as well....
