And just because someone has a good band, Dire Straits, Forigner, and Heart, unless they do something ground breaking or really something special, shouldn't be in the hall....

Go look at the names that are in now most haven't done anything groundbreaking or special it's little more than a popularity contest. The fact that Martha and the Vandellas, Prince, And many others less deserving and ground breaking than Kiss are in and Kiss aren't tells me a bunch

I can't believe some of you picked REO Speedwagon over Jethro Tull.

And yes, I am a Tull fan...why do you ask?

Seriously though...I'm not knocking REO, however Tull had a greater impact on what the kids now call Classic Rock. Additionally, you gotta include Dire Straits (also passed over for REO by some). Mark Knopfler is one of the all time greatest rock guitar players, in a class with Clapton (yes, I went there).

Okay all the hits aside

I have to say Im usually after the less than top 40 radio played songs by anyone for instance in the case of REO my alltime favorite was Flying Turkey Trot, When Ted Nugent was making waveswith all his famous hits my favorite by him on the Cat Scratch Fever album and alltime favorite Ted was Death By Misadventure. Name most albums from that era and I most likely have a Bside or rarely played favorite.

Bonafide Gold /Platinum would say REO

easily outclasses most on this list. Jethro Tull like ELP or even Dire Straits had a few favs on the charts but most followers were similiar to the DEAD HEADS or Pink Floyd followers.Just curious Wayde where you got the idea kids of today would even know who Jethro Tull is and even less likely Ian Anderson not that REO would necessarily ring a bell. Thin Lizzy though most likely not recognizable by name to teens of today had more clout overall than Dire Straits atleast where I came from and just for the record I love Tull, Dire Straits and the lot of this awesome list.

The fact that Mark Knopfler is still making music....And good music...should account for something.

But then again its not played on mainstream radio back to the popularity thing
