Someone has a used Ross Systems 16x2 mixing board for sale for $150 in NJ on Craigslist. Have any of you heard of this mixing board and is it worth taking a chance on buying it for $150?

No .. and .. no. A quick look shows it to be an older unit, so there is a high likelihood of fader noise and the possibility of caps needing replacement. A quick eBay look shows one selling for $87.

Thanks Steve and as usual you nail it again.

The first thing you should ask yourself is. Do I have a need for this, or will it sit like my sixteen subs, and 12 mismatched tops. When/What would you use it for? Ross is not very high on the quality list. I see why you never have any money, the shit burns a hole in your pocket.

I have several uses for a mixing board. I just never heard of Ross. Thething is it looked impressive for that price and features. I was skeptical about it and I'm glad I asked on here. So I will stay far away. Especially after seeing some being sold for less than that.

That board is OLD. I was using the 8X2 version back in the very early 90's in a bar I worked in. It was OK at best then I can't imagine it got better with time

Hell, you don't know how to hookup the shit you already have. You need your buddy with you to wire it up.

Please give me suggestions on a mixing board costing around $250. That's my guess and probably what I can afford to get a decent mixing board.

U can afford a $250 mixing board... that as a dj you probably don't need... but couldn't afford a better quality microphone. This is getting better and better lol
I'm just looking to get it down the line. I have gigs coming up that it will be used.

That's what everybody says when they buy a mixer like that one; it gets used once and sits on a shelf or in a box for the rest of its life. If you think I'm kidding, come to my storage unit and play "find the PreSonus". It's in there. I swear.

OK .. I'll play .. what specific "features" do you need in a live sound mixer? How many channels, how many sends? Groups? Inserts? I assume you have that given the need. Lay it out and we'll find you a decent one.

And then there were crickets.....;)
