It never ceased to amaze me at how you continue to post gear that's completely out of the ballpark for 99% of the budgets represented here.
Maybe there are some people who do not want the same old thing most DJs are using. ;)

20 Slimpar56s @ $79 = $1,580
20 Elations @ $899 = $17,980

Shall we discuss ROI?
Maybe you need to charge more! ;) Oops, I forgot. You deal mainly with Brides and Grooms who don't spend much and rooms are relatively small. Try the Production Shows and Big Gym Gigs. Those Slimpars don't have the illumination power to cope with those Elations. Have you looked at the specs?

Kinda sounds like your Tire Kickers eh! They go for the Cheapies! :toothy9:

Nope. I'm 2X as expensive as what she says she paid. Your fixtures are 10X more expensive than the ones that I use, which do an excellent job. If the performance was justified and I could charge enough to offset the cost, I'd be all over them. As I said before, you post nice gear but it's not pertinent to 95% of the people that are on this forum.

Well, Canute, when you get some of these in your stable, tell us what they are like.

Maybe I am not posting it for the 95% :p

If the only thing different about them is that they are brighter...
I don't see what the attraction is.
Most people I know are looking for a way to make their Colorstrips LESS bright.

Think outside of the "Wedding DJ in a small room" Box and you will understand why some may want it brighter.

I "am" a wedding DJ in a small room...that is why "I" don't see what the attraction is.

I'm not saying they're not a nice light.
But even thinking from the Concert Production Company standpoint...
you could buy FOUR Colorstrips for the price of ONE of those Elations, and get four times the coverage.
So I STILL don't see the attraction.

How about Chauvet SlimPAR Pro RGBA or the like? Around $380 each and flicker free for use with video. Can't say that about the cheap ones.

We just used 30 slimpar 56s on a large scale production with pro vids. No flicker issues.

BTW, some video from that production:

BTW, the soloists are Sandi Patty's daughter and grand-daughter.

And thus, the problem. The vast majority of this forum is small event djs. The fixtures you posted don't pertain to us. You're wasting our time. Find a forum that deals with stage productions and post away.

Just find another forum, period.

A good videographer knows their equipment to eliminate the flicker.

Makes one wonder why he wants to hang out here with people that he considers, amateurs, clueless, stupid, ignorant, etc. If we (collectively) are so inferior in his eyes, why does he "lower" himself to frequent this forum?

Those fixtures are old hat.. In fact, If we can go back a few years in the archives, a bunch of us here bought the 3 watt versions of those from china.

I still sell a fixture just like that. It's only about $200, and is made with 10 watt diodes.

Sometimes they innovate, sometimes they follow... this time, they're simply years behind.
