Yep.

YP10 it's called. (That was my Yoda impression). Since Monday, I've lost over 7 lbs. It a 500 calorie a day diet. FIVE HUNDRED! I could pack that away at the bar any afternoon.

So far, so good though.

Just thought I'd share.

Dave

ps. Let the food references begin.

Starting weight: 203
Weight now: 196

Hi Dan,

Not starving at all. It seems like it before you start, but when you're doing it, it's not all that bad. I will say this, I'm always on the edge of hungry, but I'm ok.

I will lose the weight and then start adding calories SLOWLY back into my diet. Today for lunch I'm having chicken breast grilled and steamed spinach with a grapefruit for dessert.

I'll be good.

Dave

Good luck and be careful Dave.

I am one of these weird "winter/summer weight" type of guys. In the summer months, when I'm more active I am always around 180, no matter how much/little I eat. And durring the winter I pick up a few pounds and hoover around 195, no matter how much/little I eat. :sqerr:

Congratulations Dave! :) I have to wonder if that's healthy though. I'm all for loosing weight but not at the expense of health. Doesn't the body wind up kick into starvation with such little calories thereby negating the weight loss?

Dan says it's working for him but I've also been losing weight and not on any kind of "diet". All I did was to cut out cokes/candy (I cheat once in a while), eat almost strictly salad for lunch with water, bowl of raisin bran for breakfast, then a reasonable portion at supper. When we go out, I try to leave food on my plate. Started around 203, like Dave, and was at 186 as of last week. This is the smallest I've been in 20 years.

Weird part is I feel TONS better, even though I've been a slacker on exercise the past couple of weeks. Weight loss is a good thing.

At my Dr. appt Tuesday, their scale said I weighed 262. I don't ever remember being that big. My scale said 255 so one of them is wrong.

4 years ago I was down to 202. I need to do something. After my surgery, I think I will get back into the walking routine and riding my bike instead of those short drives here in town.

There is a way I believe that you can utilize to eat healthy and maintain a good weight. Buy a good set of waterless cookware and learn how to use it. When you cook with that you preserve all the nutrients and thus get a full and healthy meal. That prevents you from wanting to eat in between meals. You'll never want to eat out again. Restaurant food will never be able to taste like the proper way you will cook it.
It works for me. I can count on one hand how many times in a year that I eat out. No fast food either!

This is me about 3 years ago. I was about 202 lbs. That would be over 50 pounds ago.

Dave,

My concern is how the drop to 500 calories will impact your metabolism. Starvation dieting can cause a major drop in metabolism that can be tough to recover from.

That being said, I've been on diets in the past, including one that had me on 1000 calories a day (though I tended to be closer to 1200 because of portion controls) and I dropped over 30 lbs in about 2 months. That was more than 5 years ago and those 30lbs felt lonely and came back with some friends. ;) Though I'm about to go back on the diet I was on previously.

I am eating a big order of Chinese just for all you dieters!!

(yeah yeah, I know, I can be an ass sometimes, hahaha)
