You know, stuff can happen to anyone. I'm sure that not all of us have the means of bringing twin setups out to events. Do you tow another vehicle or bring another DJ?

Most of us have two systems, but we don't all drive a box truck or van to carry it all to every gig. The best you can do is test your gear regularly (especially the night before) and hope the worst doesn't happen.

*Does the bride buy two dresses and two cakes?
*Does the caterer make some ham sandwiches just in case?

Be prepared, but don't get crazy.

I think it's incumbent to have some sort of back up especially for a "mission-critical" item like a speaker. I haul a 5x8 trailer...I carry my FBT Maxx 6A's in the trailer.

I think at least you should be carrying at least 1 extra top....

"your gear regularly (especially the night before) and hope the worst doesn't happen."

When you're the "professional"; paid to provide a service, hope shouldn't be in your vocabulary.

I've never booked a ceremony without a reception. It's always an after-thought of add-on. When I need a 2nd rig for a ceremony, I use a Mackie SRM150 (powered hotspot) with a peavey cab hanging off it. As a 2nd rig, I have a QSC GX5, biamped into a 15" sub and 2 Peavey 10" cabs. Never had to use it on a failure, thankfully. It does make for a nice supplemental system.

Ceremonies I use a Numark MIX 2 w a single powered 15, and a small aux Behringer mix board if it gets crazy on extra wireless mics for the ceremony.

All that will serve as backup for reception if needed. Eventually Im gonna rack up my old dually deck and mixer into a 6x2 slant to serve as a redundant backup, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Ceremony system:
Compact
computer or ipod
needed mics

Very simple..very easy to set up and tear down. Worked for ceremony with 250 people. Would not suggest that system with that many people at reception, but at ceremony there is very little ambiant noise, so system works great for that size.

So Steve

Do you bring duplicate copies of all your CDs? Also you failed to answer Hanks question only cutting and pasting a portion of his comment. Should the bride purchase two dresses the caterer etc the Ham Samiches.:sqwink:

I bring my own Camera, its a pretty good one. I had a photographer ask to borrow it, seems something went wrong with his. I made a few bucks. He was being paid $3000, I was making about $300. I doubled my money that night. It was a good night.

I have 3 sony Single CDs as back up and a Berhinger 4 channel mixer as back up to my laptop and CD Mix 2. Just some stuff I bought off a DJ who went out of business.

No, people don't bring duplicate CD's but they do bring a backup CD player. However I always brought two copies of all the important music for every wedding on 2 separate cd's. Why would you compare a DJ to a brides dress or a caterer's ham? No comparison to the argument whatsoever. Those of us who are digital carry multiple backups for music. I have 2 laptops, 2 Denon hd 2500's, two mixers, and 2 external HD's.

So therefore my back up is..........wait for it.............it's almost there..........waiting, waiting...............

Two Bose L1's, and two Bose L1 compacts for ceremonies, which each are their own backup. Since I mostly use only one compact for a ceremony the second is my backup. If both of those sheet the bed I have my two main L1's as well.

Simple, everyone should have a contingency plan for the worst case scenario. At some wedding, some party Murphy's Law will take precedence.

RCF 12" Active, maybe two depending upon coverage area; Numark CD MiX-II, Sure Wireless (Mic + Lapel Mic). Serves as backup for Main system, if needed.

wow easy on your heart Jake I didnt mean to make you have to bring out the Stick issue. Do you belong to Hair Club For Men?
