Hers the deal...T'm thinking about truss to hang my lights. I'm thinking 6 Wiedamark par 64's up top with 2 ADJ led starballs...

Below would be a ADJ Tri phase and Chavet Elan in the middle and on the outside 2 Chauvet Insignia's...might hang a fog nachine, or maybe even an old school mirror ball.

Right now I have 2 Herculese crank - T stands; they are rated at 100ponds each....

The LED lights weigh all of 60 lbs...the insignias add 40...I'm planning to use 2 speaker arms...to mount my 28lb 310 A;s to the posts... a look like below except with a truss...

I want it easy to move so an 8 foot piece won't do....I'm looking at 2 3.28 foot pieces...Right now I use a 4 foot table....The crank stands would tuck close into the side of the table. I could also go with a 3.28 and 4.92 piece...

Looking at the Global Truss that Ben Sells...aluminum...I Beam.... likely (weight considerations)

Questions...

1) Ben..what;s the weight on this stuff

2) would I beam sag at the connector?

3) How do I connect to the crank stands

4) If I had 2 equal lengths of truss,,,,would it be possible to reconfigure and mount 2 separate pieces on a T stand...similar to a T bar set up

Thanks in Advance

My Advice is go Triangle Truss and Get some good Cranks... Hang the speakers off the Truss, fills it up a bit, saves using extra stands, and should get them a bit higher than you have them in the pic above... I do have a pic or 2, but they are crap quality and stuck on my phone... I honestly was pleased with how clean it looks, all hanging off the truss and only having 2 stands to worry about...

I'm using 3 - 5 foot sections of on stage (square truss tubes, not round) with hercules stands.
200 lb easy, me and my buddy were trying them out both of us weight 330 lb, they did not sag.
They don't sell them anymore but you may be able to find old stock...If not email Ben, he will set you up. They had nice special about 1 month ago.

2 sections were too short and looked tiny.

Steve, about the truss... I think I-Beam is extremely easy to transport and looks great!

Check out this new 8 3/4" I-Beam truss: http://www.cheaplights.com/cart/page114.html

Square model: http://www.cheaplights.com/cart/page112.html

I believe this is all new Global stuff which Ben can quote you on. Sorry Ben, but that is the only link I know of to show the truss. It's basically the same truss as the Global Arch System but in I-Beam and square.

Anzyxx, I like the way you use the T-bars to hang the drape that covers your speakers. I only wish I had that much room to set-up. Seems as though I always get a tight corner...
Trying to clenup my setup... It's more the tripod legs but works for speakers as well.
I'm adding soon the famous spandex facade....

As for the I-Beam truss I would but again 3-5 foot sections. They don't take to much truck space and are easy to carry. Square model would force me to upgrade my car!!!

Here are some off the cuff answers for ya. :)

1 - The weight varies by the type and length of the truss. I'll get you the weights for the ones you mentioned.

2 - The standard black steel stuff most widely used will very likely sag, but the 2" global you mentioned will not.

3 - A couple options. I'll try to come up with something more elegant tomorrow. LOL

4 - Yes. I actually had a customer use a pretty in genius method of doing this using swivel clamps. Worked pretty slick.

Anzyxx - are your speakers hanging from the truss or mounted to the pole...I really like that draped look.....

I want my set up down to 2 poles...I like a close tight set up as you see in the photo...with that I can hide most of the tripods behind me and with the facade.

I plan to modify the arms...The speakers are too far out:going to bring them in about 6 " so that they're tight against the poles....

Ben...at most I' m looking 7 feet wide: 8 max.

I'm trying to lighten up, but aesthetics are important as well....Why I like the truss is that:

1) it centers everything
2) You use all the unused space above and it looks good

I want the ability though to go to a "T bar" set up, if there are space issues or i have a large area, I can space the set up further and use speaker stands....

Thanks for all the input so far....

They are mounted on the pole. EV combo.

I use an ADJ truss system. My local store told me it would hold 300 lbs. I use two five foot sections.

I like the way you have your speakers set up. Can you send me (pm) a close of the speakers on the rig.

Abbey - I don't have a close up...I'll try to remember.

These are K&M arms purchased at ESC (Bill K). Ben may stock them. I'm using 2 O clamps to hold term onto the lighting stands.

What I don't like about the stands is the placement of the post; too far out....I'm trying to figure a way to move them in...so I can slide my 10" boxes closer

The swivel clamp would also allow me to use each bar section split on separate stand if I wanted....

Yep, that's what I posted earlier. :) I guess I didn't think about using it to attach it in a regular truss mode. One of those duh moments for me I guess. LOL.
