Read this article. This is why we need the death penalty for punks like that. I don't care if the DP is a deterrent or not, these animals deserve harsh punishment.

Or worst! I'm sick of the bleeding heart liberals that argue that the death penalty is not a deterrent. The reason it isn't is because the death penalty we now have is not severe enough, such as in the case of lethal injection, which has no shock value. The punishment should be inhuman and barbaric. After all, don't they deserve it when they show their victim no mercy by snuffing out the life of a good and decent person that would have made the world a better place had they lived.
So let's forget about the deterrent argument and think more along the lines of retribution. It's what the thugs respect and deserve.
I see nothing wrong with a firing squad instead of lethal injection. They don't need the right to pick their method of execution, just line them up and fire away. This whole thing just pisses me off. This guy serves our country in a war zone and comes home and gets killed by street thugs. It's sickening.

Probably because the perps have seen that the Death Penalty is typically all bark and no bite. They'll spend leisurely years lifting weights, eating three square meals a day, and being converted to Islam before getting a last-minute reprieve by some liberal judge(s). Wash, rinse, repeat.
Deterrent? Well, it sure deters those put to death!
The issue I have with the death penalty -- is it brings us to their level.
I work my butt off to move up the food chain, not down...
On the other hand, if an act is in progress, and I can stop it using deadly force -- so be it.
If I see it happening, I can pull a trigger or a tire iron without hesitation. If I don't see it with my own eyes, I would not feel comfortable in sentencing somebody to death.
That "Thou shalt not kill thing", keeps popping in my mind, and I live by those 10 little rules...

OK Fred, here's an honest answer. These thugs deal in the world of "Do what I want or pay the price." Just ask the victims (if they live, that is). They get compliance by threats. That is ONE of the intents of the death penalty.
The problem for the "It doesn't deter crime" crowd is that there is no way to document how many crimes were not committed.
Here's the other isssue. The death penalty is not the perps only, but for the protection of society. A healthy society doesn't have people like that in it.
The anti argument seems to ignore the protection of society issue. Keeping them locked away isn't enough, because they get out, cost us too much money, etc.
Fred I believe once again it's the PC crap, as Bryan mentioned they have all the amenities in death row and wait 10 years or more with appeals. The criminals get better treatment than the victims and have more rights.
To me, any crime infringes on the right of somebody. And the victim is the one who should have rights, not the criminal.

The "kill" in that commandment is clearly murder, not judical death penalty. The same law giver gave many reasons for capital punishment in the same book.

The judicial death penalty is an oxymoron -- it is pre-meditated murder.
Whether the person is a doctor in a white coat, or an army guy in fatigues -- he wakes up that morning, knowing he/she will kill someone today.

Probably not, and that (I hope), is the difference between the bad guys and us...
I guess having a sister who was raped and murdered by a guy who was convicted of rape in the past, did time, and was released to do it again puts a different spin on the purpose of punishment. I don't give two rat butts about his feelings. It bugs me that my sister committed the capital offense of running out of gas near a convicted sex offender.
So for the rest of the families who will suffer the pain that my family does, because we let people like that into our society, tell them sorry in advance.
As for me, call me and I will pull the trigger, and save the unnecessary pain of innocent people.
BTW, my sister was 5 weeks away from graduating from college, Suma Cum Laude in a double major of music and French. Sounds like a person we would rather have in our society to me.

My cousin (very close I might add), got whacked for a gold chain and watch, while on vaca in FL.
Petty criminal, who had been in and out of jail all his life. He hit him over the head to knock him down, then strangled him. He was only 27.
Another branch of the "family", offered to make things "better" in the jail after he was caught. Although all of us had a burning desire to see that happen, it was voted down unanimously, as the end result would have made us no more civilized than the animal that did it.
The guy got out of jail after about 10 years again.
If he walked on the property right now, I have a feeling he would not walk off it. But, I'm not going to call him, and invite him up so he can disappear.

Does the death penalty have any deterring value? It clearly cuts down on recidivism, which would certainly deter a future crime.
Who makes the determination of what is a "bad element"?
I don't believe humans are capable of that decision...
