Whoa ... Mix-off ... I don't think offing Mix will help here.

Big picture:
Your assessment of the offer being bait and switch and a scam is completely wrong. It's that simple. My opinion of the offer has nothing to do with that.

The current product being old outdated is simply your opinion...and not a fact. It's OK if you don't like it, but it doesn't make your opinion facts.

I'm not trying to win you over. As I've mentioned. It's impossible to argue with someone who truly believes everything they say becomes a fact.

However, I do think this thread will be helpful to people. When they read the offer, and then your assessment of it, and your continued defense of your illogical position, they'll understand you much better.

I don't think anyone reading this thread cares to "understand me..." you have a monopoly on that perverse need. In case you missed it Einstein, I started this thread with a fixed opinion at the very first post. I have not wavered from that position at all . You had the option to disagree and leave it at that.

Instead you obsess over the need to change my opinion and replace it with your notion of "correctness." It must bug the sh-- out of you that you're powerless to change my mind. You're a fool and an insecure control freak... and most of all helpless to prevent yourself from the need to fire back and set the rules for correct thinking as you see it. Guess what- your "facts" are self serving and anally retentive - not enough to change my opinion of Ots and their upgrade scams.

You're also a fake... can't reveal what controller you use to mix with? Oops! That's right you're a "professional" wedding DJ and mixing isn't important right? Why not tell us how your other DJs use those 8 license to mix that 80,000 song library with Ots? Why not do as Rick suggests - here's your big chance to show us all just how great Ots is for mixing, and for video, etc. ROTFLMAO.

I don't even require that - just tell us what controller you use, you're mixing style, what other software and hardware you use. What's a matter - did you run out of real "facts" or are you all hot air when it comes to actual DJ skills?

Bob,

I offered up the challenge, hoping you would both partake of it. It requires both of you to participate, not just one of you.

You can't just say "show me what you got Scott" -- you have to put your skillz out there as well.

Knowing Scott, I'm guessing he will put something together -- will you?

I think you should all buy my software -- because I'm an expert too... xf:D

I can vouch for that. You're software: actually works, you give straight up information about it, upgrade it pretty consistently, sell it without bulls--- or arrogance, and don't try to scam people into buying old licenses on the hope that there's some new magic potion just around the corner waiting for them.

If I was still a multi-op and setting up DJs with the gear was still a practical way to do things I'd give Rockit careful consideration. By comparison Ots is a dead end - no serious mobile operation would leave itself hanging on software whose upgrade delays drag on for years. Working DJs want up to date working tools and features and as a multi-op you can't afford to let your DJs get frustrated and bored with your operation. They will go elsewhere and so will your customers.

Personally, it doesn't click with me and what I want. Ots single biggest attraction is it's music management but, failure to come through with features that any real human DJ would appreciate turns the Ots proprietary file format into a negative rather than a positive because it now requires that a DJ wanting to use the program maintain two format versions of his library - one for Ots and another for use with other programs whenever you require the multitude of features Ots has for years failed to upgrade.

I disagree. It was Scott and you too, I believe who first suggested that there is something about the software that I don't comprehend. Logically then, your position is that I am incapable of demonstrating the Ots mix features. My position is that those features don't exist.

You're asking me to show you functionality that I know the software doesn't have. You contend I'm not capable of understanding it. You can't have it both ways - the features are either there or their not - and either you're more qualified to find them or youre not.

It follows then, that I should need Scott to do what Ots itself has never been able to do - show us the features and functionality appreciated by someone applying actual DJ talent to the Ots software.

Scott says it is there - so let him explain it or show us. This thread is about OtsAV I contend that the program now sucks, upgrades have been a scam and that the current marketing ploy is classic bait and switch.

Scott claims he has proof I'm wrong about that and that mixing with Ots is just "fine" - so where is his evidence of that? At the very least he could tell us what controller he has connected to Ots for mixing. eh? Perhaps even why he chose it over other hardware or software combinations? Perhaps he could explain it's dismal sales performance and why they require your cash first -and then the product later...maybe...if at all.

I contend he chose Ots because he doesn't know the first thing about mixing, talks out his arse about what Ots can or can't do - and uses Ots because he thought ABM would make him a better fake wedding DJ. :)

Bob, I think yer being a bit harsh on Scott.

If you're that damned determined to state your point, then show us your mixing skillz, with your tool of choice.

I gave you guys 3 songs. I pretty much picked them randomly. If yer not up to the challenge, then go somewhere else...

If I were to try and play, let alone mix, any one of these three songs here in Houston, I would probably be shot, twice (So that they would make sure I was dead). You need to learn how to pick good songs. ;)

Baloney, I'm simply asking him to own up to his own words, that: "Ots is fine for mixing," and "that I don't know how to use it." He's been babbling like a baby and running from those words while no one calls him out on it.

If you want to hear me mix then come to an event on your own time and stop begging other people to amuse you free of charge. Find something else to j-- off with.

Scott doesn't need to make a video either - if what he claims is true someone would already have posted as much. But, alas there aren't any - you know why? 'cause OtsAV sucks for mixing. You'll find all kinds of videos highlighting DJs on Serato, Tracktor, VDJ, Ableton, and more - none for Ots... gee I wonder why?

So put your own money where your mouth is Rick, and waste your own time finding Scott and I a video of all these OtsAV features for "mad-skilled" DJs.

I picked them randomly Canute. I wanted something that would take some work on the participants, yet I didn't want to dictate. I told them they are open to choose their own, but I threw a few suggestions out there.

The songs I threw out there, actually mix well, if you know what yer doing... ;)

Real live DJs don't pick songs randomly. They pick songs they know will work! Stick to making software.;)

It's how they mix on the dance floor that matters most - that's the whole point of being a real DJ.

BTW, how many times a night do you disclose to the crowd that the music program you are playing was pre-recorded in a studio? Isn't it dishonest to pretend you're DJing when you're actually... not?
Do the bars you're at promote "DJ entertainment" or do they make it clear to patrons that the music is canned? :)

Last I knew, all of our music is canned. Unless you're playing the kazoo or something.

I'll start, and pick some songs random (feel free to change that up):

1) Billy Jean - MJ
2) Down on the Corner - CCR
3) Gambler - Madonna

I agree with Canute - crappy song set, at least for this area.

It's also "Billie Jean" not "Billy.... as in goats.

But, I'll play along. (Keep in mind my audience isn't stoned or drunk out of their mind - they actually hear what is being played. :)

Down on the corner has a pre-80' sound, and Billie Jean has no break downs. That means you've got a floor filled with disco fans who like the 80's bass sound and you're about to try and flip it for 70's smoker rock that lacks a room shaking bottom. Simplest and fastest mix is to grab a sample of the bass rhythm at the beginning of Billie Jean, then bring it back later, drop the low filter on it, and then hit from the first note of CCR. Hopefully you have plenty of 40+ something's in the room who recognize CCR - otherwise you're about to clear the floor!

I will stick to making software -- that's what I do best.

But, can you mix those three songs together...?

What are you babbling about now?

Rick revealed in another thread that he doesn't actually DJ when he DJs - he prerecords the mixes at home on studio software and simply plays them back at the bar.

This is why it's so outrageous when DJs who don't actually mix live - try to tell you what you need your software to be able to do.

So are tomatoes - but, fine dining is all in the cooking and presentation isn't it?

Same principle applies to DJs.... as well as truth in advertising.

Yes Bob, I have admitted to that. No apologies, I prefer to work in the studio if possible. I've never made any claim to be the best live mixer.

OTOH, you tell us you're a mixologist, and do all your sh_t live.

I called you out, and asked you to show it.

Bring it on.
