Why is Gaga's latest single missing from RPM/TMC?

I can't speak for the other companies, but for us there isn't a whole lot of guessing. Songs get on PrimeCuts in one of a few ways:

- Song is released from an artist who always goes Top 30. Once it's released as a single, it's on PrimeCuts.
- The song is trending Top 30. Meaning, it is gaining enough spins that it will soon be Top 30.
- The song is already Top 30.

That's just for PrimeCuts. With our HitDisc service, which is included on PrimeCuts MP3, that's where there are more songs run because they're released as a single by a major record label. Those are where you might find the hits & misses. That's why we promote PrimeCuts to DJs & HitDisc to radio. However, that's also why we include HitDisc free on PrimeCuts MP3...we know some DJs want as much music as they can get, as fast as they can get it.

This week's RPM has Pitbull Bon Bon.... a little bit behind on that one.

Bon Bon was released on C329 and RL97. These were already released. January discs. Also released on T1096.

The service we use here at the station to get music (other than label sites) is promo only. I can't speak on behalf of the other services but promo only always has the top radio hits on them. Pretty much on point

I think that they all get the top radio hits. I think for us mobile guys it comes down to who gives us the best product for the best price for our environments and abilities.

Im not sure how well it 'charted' but the song Whip My Hair by Willow Smith was never released on Prime Cuts. Surely, it must have cracked the top 30 because it was offered on Promo Only and the Now 37 disc and young people keep requesting it. I know most DJs here have had that song requested at some time...know I have. I kept hoping to see it on my Prime Cuts discs...and never did. Pretty glaring ommision.

Whip My Hair by Willow Smith was on PrimeCuts almost 6 months ago. The song appeared on HP201038 (9/17/10).

It was definitely on Prime Cuts, this is where i get all my tracks now and i use that track all the time at the middle schools, Thanks to Prime Cuts! They had it before it was even known here :)

Sorry, guess I should have been more specific. I was referring to the monthly version of PC.

Don't see it on the current RPM weekly or what was sent on TMC.

Not that I have need this moment, but if worked a wedding this weekend - it sure might be expected to get played.
I got this Thursday 2/17 on my Promo Only Online weekly download!

I find it funny that with Primecuts many times you will get a song so early that most forget they actually already had it. I of course always type in the title before wondering why it isnt in my most current.

Speaking of the spin the barbie head off song... I've not only got what came out but, I believe I have a couple alternate versions of the stupid song.... and guess what... I seriously doubt it will ever get played at any of my gigs....

Oops my bad its the Whip My Hair song.... what a joke... I have all kinds of respect for Will Smith but, his kids are just riding his coat tails....

While i'm not a fan of the song Rob it certainly is a hit. I did a wedding for Hairdressers back when this was first released and i hadn't even heard it yet. They requested it and went absolutely crazy for this. And at Middle Schools the kids still scream in happiness if you drop the track. While it may not be one of our personal favorites, a lot of talent there.

That's the caveat of the monthly disc set, you don't get everything.

I dont expect "everything"....but this has been a HUGE song. The single peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was offered on the PO monthly disc and made the last NOW cd. As I said, something this big should be on a monthly disc...even if its a month AFTER it hits. A GLARING OMMISION INDEED!

I think we all play ALOT of crap we dont like. No need to be so smug about it. Its 'part of the job'...right?

Smith's kids may be "riding his coat tails" but they have talent and they have already tasted success...at the ripe old ages of 10 and 12. When your parents are 'show folk', I think it may fall under the NO BRAINER category that the offspring will be similarly involved. See also: Charlie Sheen, Keifer Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Enrique Iglasias, Jacob Dylan, Jason Bonham, Wolfgang VanHalen...etc etc. I fail to see the need to deride them.

My opinion was more of a personal opinion... obviously if the stupid song is requested I'll play it... but its not getting played otherwise... crap is crap.

Talent umm again that's opinion... I watched the karate kid with his son and while there's potential he has a very long road ahead of him...

As for the girl.... I hear one hit wonder...

I hope I'm wrong but as like everything everyone's got opinions and everyone's enitled to them.

your examples are a bit flawed

Enrique didnt even use his dads last name for many yrs as he didnt want the label or tag controlling his fortune. Same with Lenny Kravitz but agreed that a few mentioned were given silver spoon treatment due to their names. I dont like Ke$ha but know well enough that playing her songs in many applications are a must. Still doesnt make me like her. I nearly threw a shoe through my tv in the bedroom having fallen asleep but rudely awaken when hearing I whip my hair what seemed like repeat. I have played it several times as it is requested almost as much as Justin Beiber for middle school girls.
