What's with the trading card pics in the DJ Photo Gallery?

Beary cool.

I like the bears too... :djsmug: Gotta give Steve149 credit for the hockey-playing bear though. Really funny!

Here are a couple of updated versions Bob made

... but did you ever look at that trading card and wonder: "What would Jeff look like if he actually wore that hat he's holding?"...

The "Biker Jeff" was patterned after Paul Teutul Sr. of Orange County Choppers fame...

Doesn't the mustache look familiar?...
But what I also like is he's riding a bike on a snow and ice covered road (not an easy feat), and he's wearing shorts, flip-flops, and a sleeveless shirt. Only in Canada!

People ask me; "Don't you have better things to do than to mess with those Trading Cards?" Well, no:laugh:... or yes, but I don't want to do the better things. Here is my latest and final version of Chuck The DJ...
upload_2017-2-27_12-42-5.png
I'm sure Chuck is tired of getting new versions in his e-mail. You may not think much has changed since the original, but actually quite a bit has. I think I'm finally happy with this version. I love the California Wine Country theme (Sebastopol is in Sonoma County) of this card, even though it gets a little busy in that small 4.5x5 inch space (the cards are 5x7 inches). I counted the individual pieces saved during the creation of this card, and there were about 160, not including the ODJT Template and other duplicates.

Here's the Evolution OF Chuck The DJ (the trading card anyway)...

I don't normally draw the subject naked, but since Chuck sent me naked pictures to work from, I did it this one time. OK... not true. Chuck didn't really send me naked pictures, but I fantasized that he did. That's not weird; is it?

A set of ODJT Trading Cards could not be complete without a Steve149 card...

upload_2017-3-3_23-5-12.png

Now... Steve sent me nothing. I think he has me on IGNORE:laugh: All I had to work from was his icon, so it may or may not resemble Steve. I had this concept for weeks and could not wait to do this card. Since Steve is our resident wizard, what could be more fitting for his card?

Sorry .. I've been battling the flu all week, so I've been zoning in and out.

Oooo... The flu??? Not good!...Hope you get over it soon.

I'm still messin' with your card, but how do you like it so far?

...I like the EVOX in the background.
You're pretty observant. There's a lot going on in that picture. When you go that small, some of the details get lost. I know they're there.:djsmug: The symbolism of the lights (rainbow) is probably too subtle. You're somewhere UNDER the rainbow.[emoji1] I had to explain it to my wife.

This one is for my good friend Galager...
upload_2017-3-5_11-26-12.png

... This is one of the first ones I did (in another forum), but I've updated it a bit for ODJT. He doesn't spell Galager the same as the comedian "Gallagher", but he uses a picture of him as his icon, thus the watermelon smashing theme. Haven't seen Galager around for a long time, though. I guess when he comes back, he'll see himself.

There's still others out there...:djsmug:

Anyone wanna be next?

Well... This is the final Steve149. I think I've tweaked it as much as I can tweak it. The JPEG is in your mailbox, Steve.

The main idea for this card was the wizard... the man behind the curtain. There were no other characters (besides Steve and Toto) on the floor originally. I added the witch and dancing Dorothy and scarecrow to balance the composition. The really hard part was the drawing of the control booth (behind the curtain)... making it look similar to the one in the movie, but not making it so dominant that it took up the entire scene. As it is, it blocks the cauldron and fire on the left side of the alter (yes... there's more background scene behind the control booth). As Steve pointed out, his RCF EVOX 8's flank the alter, but are partially blocked by the added characters. It would have been easier if I had more of a wide screen format to work with.

Here's the current cast of ODJT characters.:djsmug:

Does anybody else want to be next? PM me if you do.

Interesting to see them all together. I put them in order by their size (scale) as they appear on their cards, so I could see how they compare. While I prefer the caricatures to be the dominant elements in the trading cards, I'm concerned that I've become a little consumed with the other elements in the scenes. If you look at the cards for Galager and Chuck The DJ, you wouldn't know that Chuck's caricature is so much larger. Perhaps it's because there's so much more going on in Chuck's card. On the other hand, it was more fun for me to add things like Mike's (Ausumm) dog, or the bears, moose, parrots, etcetera in the others. I also like to incorporate some DJ gear when possible, but that can be difficult to see in such a small space with the amount of small details. What do you guys think? Is simpler better?

... Guess I should have included these characters as well...

Gnome Steve and Biker Jeff are ODJT members. Toto and Leo are not members, but are based on real dogs. Leo is Ausumm's dog. The bears, birds, moose, and any other animals were imaginary.:djsmug:
