At some point you just get tired. I reached that point.

I am not a full time DJ. One day I was on a day off and started making some DJ calls. I spent from 11:00 AM till about 7:30 PM on my day off making calls and get the brush off, answering machines, hang ups, and other crap from people that had sent their information to lead services I paid for.

I enjoy the DJing part very much. I also enjoy working with clients to make their party happen but all the administrative bullsh*t can go along with the set up, strike, and dealing with rude azz guests.

I want to spend my weekends doing other things. That one day plus this slow economy signaled the end for me. This is the ripe time to leave. Plus, since I still enjoy some parts of it, it is best to leave before I think it is all crap.

If the thrill is gone, I guess it's best to leave before all the joy has left as well. I have been into music for as long as I can remember. I have played drums in more rock bands than I want to think about. Now that I am older and have kids I am finding a calmer outlet for my rock n roll life style. I am sinking about 4K into this endeavor. Thanks to my day job if it doesn't work out, I just have some kick ass toys in the basement. If it does than all the better. The one thing I have going in my favor right now is Iowa is right across the bridge from me. And gay marriages are going nuts over there. I am personally uncarring, but it's a charged area and some dj's are refusing. I will take the money..... A party is a party. Not sure if it's right, but with my life if that's the worst thing I do against the lord. Then that was a good day.

And that's another thing I am afraid of. Maryland still holds the line on the definition of marriage being between a man and a woman but sooner or later the wuss' in the legislature here will cave and Maryland will allow gay marriage.

If you look at this article, you will see that there is a precedent that some slimeball lawyer can use if you refuse a gay marriage on religious grounds. While I could probably say "I'm booked" and have used that line in the past for other events I did not want to do, in this case I'd have to be honest.

Talk about a catch 22 Lie or get sued........The higher moral ground is rarely cheap real estate.

Thought about that one Kirby, but there are a lot of Big River companies in the area. While the name is sound, I don't want to risk association. Sometimes a misconception is a good thing, but I don't have that kind of luck.

And thank you for the welcome.......close enough to have a beer one of these days.

Yeah, I figured that would be a pretty common name since you're right on the river...:sqwink:

We had a heck of a time deciding what to name our business before we started up and just went with the easiest and probably the least creative by using our last name, but it's worked for us.:sqwink:

A beer sounds good, as long as it's cold!

Okay, our business name worked out well for us. It's actually Ducky's initials...AMP... hm, makes you think if her parents thought she'd end up doing something like this...hehe

I guess then it is a good thing her last name wasn't Cheese because then I guess you two would be Mac and Cheese. :sqlaugh:
