I just got in a Phenyx Pro PTL-800 mixer and thought I'd share my initial review. Keep in mind, I haven't even powered this up yet. Just commenting on the features. Phenyx is what I'd consider a "cheap chinese knock-off" vendor, but I've been using their wireless mics for 2.5 years now. Got one of their dual hand-held sets and have used it until the mics look beat to h#ll. I just bought my 2nd set.

On mixers, I've been using a Yamaha MG10. I just started working with a band and I'll be supplying the sound system. 4 singers, kick mic, snare mic, guitar mic and keys going into the system. I'm using a pair of EV Evolve 50m and have a pair of Alto 15" subs. I bought this because it has a built-in crossover (sweepable sub cutoff). The sub and 2 main outs all have XLR connectors. It has built in effects and 2 aux sends. The mixer also has a bluetooth input, very handy for playing break music. EQ is 3-band and it has a "EQ In" switch. Haven't seen one of those before. The unit has 6 channels with XLR or 1/4" inputs with phantom power. In addition, there's one more channel (7/8) with 1/4" inputs, which I plan to use for keyboard input. It has 2 separate headphone channels on it, with independent volume controls. Finally, the unit used a standard NEMA connector power cord. In the sub mix section it has faders for FX, Bus and Main. Given that this thing ran $233, and in hoping that it performs anywhere near as well as their mics do, I'm optimistic this is going to be tremendous bang for the buck. Oh yeah, the whole thing is fairly compact. Should fit into the plastic box I use to haul extra cables.

Now keep in mind that for most gigs this band does (bar), the 50Ms will be more than enough. However, in the rare occasion we pickup a larger gig where we want subs, this thing should support a fully bi-amped rig, without an external crossover. And there you have it.

I think it will work out just fine but if it was me I'd rack in the cheaper mixers don't handle the road as well as the more expensive ones. Let us know what you think
