Coming from an 18" sub I lost some of my low end moving to the Evox-12s. I wouldn't be comfortable doing the gigs I do with any less low end than what the 12s can produce. But, I didn't really listen critically between them, I just knew I wanted the top of that range.

I was OK with the smaller subs .. the EVOX 8 was similar to the Yamaha DXS12 subs I used previously (though my Yorkvilles were better). My gigs aren't as large as Ross' (I don't do weddings). They lack a little bass outdoors .. that would be a reason to go larger or a different route.

I gotta tell ya... I've only used my EVOX 8's one time, but bass was NOT an issue... not even close. I had plenty more if I wanted, but had to back off on the bass a little to keep from irritating the guests. I steer clear of outdoor events, so if they lack a little bass outdoors, it won't matter much to me. The thing I like about the 8's is how the top fits into the bass unit for transporting in a single padded bag. The 12's must be transported in separate cases. Granted, the 12's top is not huge, but still takes up a little space.

I agree .. and for some reason, they sound better and better as you push them louder, but there is a drop off outdoors, so if you do some, it needs to be considered (or you add an additional sub). The weight of the EVOX 8 is also in line with what I was looking for.

My new EVOX 8 was just delivered. I've only been back home for 20 minutes. That was cuttin' it pretty close.[emoji4]

OK OK ...enough already about your stinkin' haircut. :)

Actually... it doesn't STINK.[emoji1]... Smells really good... That's why I get the shampoo. Lasts a couple of days before it stinks again![emoji1]

...Now open the dang boxes, test 'em out and report back!

WOW... kinda demanding, aren't ya?[emoji1] I've already opened the boxes to make sure everything was accounted for, and in good condition. Can't really test it out though, because all my gear is in the garage at the moment. Had to pack it all away for Christmas and New Years so as not to distract our guests.[emoji1] I'll go out and get my small system and a table a little later and test this new EVOX 8 out. Pretty sure it's gonna sound just like the other two though.[emoji4]

Since I have no other speakers now, looks like I'll keep two of the EVOX 8's set up in my office. At least they don't take up as much space as my old Alto subs and tops.[emoji4]

Took me a while, but I finally brought in my small system and hooked up the new EVOX 8. After sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks of below freezing weather, I wanted to give it plenty of time to acclimate.[emoji4] Probably wasn't necessary, but I was in no rush, so what the heck.[emoji1]

Everything checked out GREAT! One of these EVOX 8's in my little office is still a LOT of PA speaker. I didn't crank it up very high, but it still made my dogs bolt outside[emoji1]. I'm thinking it's not really necessary to bring in a second one. I'll just practice with the one.

Just as a piece of info others may find useful. My new EVOX 8 and the cover both arrived (in separate boxes) a around 11:15 AM this morning. I had signed up with FedEx for email delivery notifications, which came at 11:45 AM according to the time stamp on the email (not the receipt time). That's a 30 minute delay. Had I waited until receiving the delivery notification, my shipment could conceivably have sat on the porch for a half hour before I knew it was there... NOT in this case, because it required a signature, but most of my deliveries don't. I had the front door open and heard the FedEx guy coming up to the door.[emoji4]

I don't get as many FedEx, but the UPS emails come within minutes, if not seconds, normally.
