Why not use 3 EVOX 8 subs for larger events; Left - Center - Right. Would that work? Anybody ever clustered two or more EVOX 8 subs and place the tops on standalone spkr stands? Is it possible to place three heads on speaker stands and yet still get the signal to each? Probably need to set mixer for mono play? Trying to think "outside" the box where X = sub and Y = speaker": Y.........x(xy)x......... Y. Maybe put all 3 subs (xxx) under DJ table and spkr stand the heads; Y.....Y..... Y ?

I suppose it's possible .. the connection to the top is a simple 2 pole Speakon connector ... same cable many passive speakers use, so you can get or make them in any length.

Actually, now that I thought about it, might not work well as the EVOX bass unit IS NOT a sub .. Like the Bose units, it crosses over higher than true subs .. up into the range where it IS directional, so placement matters and it needs to be near the tops.

So what you're sayin' is rather than using the third bass unit without the top, it would be more advantageous to use it with the top? Is that right?

Probably ... never tried it as I don't have 3, but I have done centerfill before, sending the center speaker a mono output (even if I ran the mains as stereo). You might be able to run the tops away from the normal pole if the circumstances dictated it, but they'd still need to be close or you'd get some issues.

I haven't read all the comments, but unless you NEED the money, I wouldn't sell anything. You can always find uses for the other speakers, a fill, or second system. In my area we do a number of three system weddings and I kick myself for selling some EVs when I thought I needed money.

BUT if you do have to sell them, I would try your local Craigslist first. I am not a huge Alto fan and I don't know anything about the Eon's, but selling locally, getting CASH in hand and not having to ship, is well worth it. Sometimes, a music store will let you put up for sales, I would also e-mail a list to every local DJ, band, agent, venue you know and hopefully that will work.

The cost of shipping will kill most hopes of selling. Your speakers are not that great, sorry, and so the price that you will get for them, added with the shipping, to most, just wont be worth it I think. I could be wrong.

The last thing to remember is that you can't get crap for used gear, no matter how clean it is, no matter how few times they have been used, they are still used.

My 2cents.

It's not so much about the money, although it would be nice to have a few bucks to apply to a third EVOX 8. The SPACE is really the issue. I don't have any storage space for DJ gear. I keep practically all my gear in my minivan, but you can't just keep adding stuff back there.[emoji1]

There's gonna be other stuff that I'll no longer need when I sell my Alto's and/or JBL's. I have (4) four TS100 speaker stands... Sure won't need that many, and it eliminates one speaker stand bag. I made those brackets to mount lights on my 10" and 12" Alto's... won't need those anymore.☹️ I have a ton of power cables and audio cables, specifically for certain configurations with my current speakers. I should be able to lighten my load in my gig bag.

I understand buy but what is this sell thing you speak of? :dontknow: ;)

I don't sell gear generally but in your case I would try and move the Altos and the JBLs and buy even more Evox. You like them, they have a good reputation, and you would free up a bunch of space in your home, van, and wallet ;)

I thought about it.[emoji4] My problem (not my only or most serious one) is I'm SO fussy (OCD) about how my gear is treated, I could never trust anyone else to take care of it to my satisfaction. So no rental.[emoji4]

I have done some rentals and I had one good long term one to a guy that ran a playland for kids birthday parties. He treated the gear very well and the money was always on time no questions asked. He even returned the lights with new bulbs at the end of the deal. Unfortunately he was the exception rather than the rule. Other than that I was always chasing for money or gear

I went and DONE it![emoji1]... Sold all my speakers, JBL's, Alto's, tops and subs. Only kept my TX-8's for monitors. I went to Guitar Center today and sold them all. Was a little disappointed, but I think for used, 3-4 year old speakers, I did OK. They wouldn't add anything for the Tuki Covers and speaker bags, so I kept them. I'll sell them on eBay. They also would not buy my sub poles or Ultimate speaker stands. I have no need for sub poles or speaker stands either, so I guess I'll try to sell those on eBay too. I got enough to buy another RCF EVOX-8, and that's just what I plan to do tomorrow... a Christmas present for ME![emoji1]

Minivan is pretty empty now. It's actually pretty nice not having it packed to the ceiling with gear.[emoji4]

So...does this purchase mean that you now have 3 Evox units? Let us know how a trio Evox set up sounds. Was it a Evox 8 system you have?

I WILL have three when I buy another one tomorrow. The third will be my backup. I don't expect to set all three up at the same time, but I suppose I could if it was necessary. My events are generally for less than 200 guests, so two should be sufficient.

Bought a third RCF EVOX 8. It shipped from VA yesterday and was in MD today. Ended up paying $1,450 with the cover and free shipping from ProAudioStar. Not as good as the $1,299 I paid for the first two on Black Friday, but still a pretty good deal. It will give me some piece of mind having a backup, since I sold all my other speakers. I'm having a little seller's remorse about that... maybe I should have kept one pair of tops, or maybe a sub??? Too late now, though. I guess if I want something to setup in my office for practicing, I'll have to buy a couple of new tops???... Any suggestions?[emoji1]

I went through the same withdrawal when I sold my Yorkville system (tops and 18" sub). I always figured that if really necessary a sub could be rented.

It's just as well that I sold them all [emoji1]... at least that's what I keep telling myself. I would have spent hours (or days) trying to decide which ones to keep.[emoji1] I so rarely do a wedding, so needing a ceremony system is unlikely, and I don't do large enough events that having additional speakers is a necessity. I know it's weird, but I really did like my Alto's.[emoji1]
