What speaker tops did you buy and why?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING!? Last year there was no drama

WRONG! IT'S NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY NOR WERE WE ASKED TO DO ANYTHING WITH REGARDS TO THE GENERATORS. OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO SUPPLY THE GEAR FOR THE EVENT, PLAY MUSIC FOR THE EVENT AND ANYONE WHO IS TO PERFORM AT THE EVENT, ASSIT THEM. THAT'S IT PERIOD.
Get a grip, man! This is just a chat board!😂

When you run of gas all eyes will be on you Mixxy.
No they won't or in the past when it happened nobody came to us complaining. The guy came with some more gas and told the guy that all he had to do is get more gas from him in the beginning and be done with it.

I just thought of a question. Some suggest I keep an eye on the gas level in the generator. So what if it’s running low, what do I do then? We won't have gas with us to put back in the generator. Just tell Jim it's low on gas and let him deal with it. What if like the other time there is no extra gas, then what?

Wrong. It's about knowing what to do with what you're using. I understand your point. A DJ that doesn't know any better will want the tops to be screaming to carry the sound and impress the crowd. That's what a inexperienced DJ does thinking the louder the sound the better. Trust me I know what others are thinking on here and that's not enough speakers for this event. Things will be just fine. We've never had a issue with speakers being damaged at this event. Last year we used the 2 tops and 1 Yorkville 801P subs. The sound was spot on! Keep in mind the tops are QSC K12.2 speakers and not a pair of Mackie Thumps or Bahringer speakers.

When I did the 4th of July picnic I used just the two tops in Eastside Park in Paterson, NJ and they did the trick! Could have used a sub but didn't because it wasn't necessary.

I do know what I'm doing that's why I made the suggestions I did....But you do you

Setting up sound outdoors changes the rules completely because you do not have walls to reflect and trap the sound waves.
Outdoors, bass drops off incredibly fast because the sound waves expand in all directions into open air. Highs and mids will seem to carry much further than the bass, making the audio sound thin or tinny from a distance.

So… when I closed up my DJ business and moved to Texas, the only speakers I kept were my three RCF EXOX 8’s, and two Alto TX8’s I used for booth monitors. When my HOA needed a PA system, I used one RCF EVOX 8 inside the clubhouse, and one Alto TX8 on the patio outside. That combination was easily sufficient, and made me realize the two Alto TX8’s could handle anything the HOA ever needs inside the clubhouse, so I decided to donate them to the HOA. However, that leaves me with only three BIG speakers. If I ever do anything local, I need a couple of nice 8 to 10 inch speakers. I don’t want to spend too much, because I won’t likely use them much. Any suggestions?

Might be a little out of your budget but the Everse 8 would fit the bill for weight and probably power you would need. They retail at $1159 up here I figure maybe $800-$900 US each

I said it how I meant it. We have never been asked to supply the generators or gas for them. You have to ask in order to receive.

Maybe at the pre planning meeting you can bring up the question or concern about the generator running out of fuel and having dead air.

You are in some control of you own destiny, it takes very little effort to look at a fuel gauge and notice if it is low then bring it up to the person in charge of it. It’s the same as knowing what is going on the day of the event long before it happens. Are there singers or speakers getting their names and numbers to make sure you know what they may need your help with. This is event prep 101. It’s how you build a successful business

When it rains it pours. I played for the seniors yesterday in Montclair, NJ for their monthly birthday celebrations. They do this once a month for anyone who had a birthday during the month. I'm the resident DJ. I bring in one speaker, controller with laptop and wireless mics. I only use one speaker because that's all I need for this group of people. A lot of them are older than the and I can't blast the music. Just keep it at a decent level or they will complain. Not a big deal for me. I deal with it and understand.

I finished and load up the van with my gear and when I go to start up the van wouldn't turn over. My partner came there and tried to help me get it started. It wouldn't. He thought it was the starter. I had to call Geico and get a tow. It took a while for Price Rite towing to get there. The driver said his father had a repair shop for 30 years and he was a mechanic as well. He checked it out trying to give it a jump. He thought it might be the battery. It wasn't. It's a brand new battery I got 2 weeks ago. He confirmed it was the starter. So it was towed to Motorhead repair shop in East Orange, NJ. It's there now. I need a ride to get over there to see what's up. I called the guy yesterday to tell him about the van issue. So I told him I will call him today to let him know what's going on..

Lately it's been one thing after another. My issues with my health and the issues with the van. Especially since we have the event to do next Saturday in Branch Brook Park. UGH. I played music yesterday to keep my spirits up because of what I'm going through. Sometimes the devil test me to see how bad I want to remain clean and serine. Wish me well today with the van. Have a wonderful day all. I'm just thankful it's not more serious than that and trust me I didn't want to make this post. Please be kind with your responses because I need to feel good right now instead of taking a beating.

Sorry Adrian for what you are dealing with at this time. This will pass and some other issue will come up. It could always be alot worse. Step back at look at what other might be dealing with and let thay put things into prospective.
When I focus on thing I want & things I want to do and stop thinking or helping others things can go south real quick.
