What speaker tops did you buy and why?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING!? Last year there was no drama

WRONG! IT'S NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY NOR WERE WE ASKED TO DO ANYTHING WITH REGARDS TO THE GENERATORS. OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO SUPPLY THE GEAR FOR THE EVENT, PLAY MUSIC FOR THE EVENT AND ANYONE WHO IS TO PERFORM AT THE EVENT, ASSIT THEM. THAT'S IT PERIOD.
Get a grip, man! This is just a chat board!😂

I just thought of a question. Some suggest I keep an eye on the gas level in the generator. So what if it’s running low, what do I do then? We won't have gas with us to put back in the generator. Just tell Jim it's low on gas and let him deal with it. What if like the other time there is no extra gas, then what?

Wrong. It's about knowing what to do with what you're using. I understand your point. A DJ that doesn't know any better will want the tops to be screaming to carry the sound and impress the crowd. That's what a inexperienced DJ does thinking the louder the sound the better. Trust me I know what others are thinking on here and that's not enough speakers for this event. Things will be just fine. We've never had a issue with speakers being damaged at this event. Last year we used the 2 tops and 1 Yorkville 801P subs. The sound was spot on! Keep in mind the tops are QSC K12.2 speakers and not a pair of Mackie Thumps or Bahringer speakers.

When I did the 4th of July picnic I used just the two tops in Eastside Park in Paterson, NJ and they did the trick! Could have used a sub but didn't because it wasn't necessary.

I do know what I'm doing that's why I made the suggestions I did....But you do you

Setting up sound outdoors changes the rules completely because you do not have walls to reflect and trap the sound waves.
Outdoors, bass drops off incredibly fast because the sound waves expand in all directions into open air. Highs and mids will seem to carry much further than the bass, making the audio sound thin or tinny from a distance.

So… when I closed up my DJ business and moved to Texas, the only speakers I kept were my three RCF EXOX 8’s, and two Alto TX8’s I used for booth monitors. When my HOA needed a PA system, I used one RCF EVOX 8 inside the clubhouse, and one Alto TX8 on the patio outside. That combination was easily sufficient, and made me realize the two Alto TX8’s could handle anything the HOA ever needs inside the clubhouse, so I decided to donate them to the HOA. However, that leaves me with only three BIG speakers. If I ever do anything local, I need a couple of nice 8 to 10 inch speakers. I don’t want to spend too much, because I won’t likely use them much. Any suggestions?

Might be a little out of your budget but the Everse 8 would fit the bill for weight and probably power you would need. They retail at $1159 up here I figure maybe $800-$900 US each

I said it how I meant it. We have never been asked to supply the generators or gas for them. You have to ask in order to receive.
