Everybody has either songs they are tired of playing or just plain hate. I have songs that are super big hit popular classics that I never liked from day one and songs I'm sick of playing. Now it's not about what I like. If I agree to do an event and I'm there doing the event, it's my job to put my feelings to the side and do my job which is to do what the client wants within reason. That's where a good discussion before agreeing to do the event is needed to see if you want to do the event.

I learned how to put my game face on when need be.
This may be your issue. If you need to put on a game face, need to do things to keep you from being bored, getting wrapped up in listening to the music instead of playing music for others, all might be signs you don’t like doing this as much as you think. Lugging around heavy equipment to do an event for next to nothing for very few people can do that.

I think you really feel it is about you. You understand that it sounds bad, so you say it isn’t, but you talk often about songs or genres you don’t like.
There are a bunch of songs I’d never play when I’m listening to music, but play often because it’s right for that event. You say you’ve been doing this for years, but you are still thinking about how the music feels to you and not just your guests.

I’ve never listened to a post malone song outside of dj research or at a gig. I don’t get it and don’t like it. I do know how many people like it and play the stuff often. Ill gladly keep playing his stuff

Sorry,. Mix, but you should not have to do that! Maybe it's time to get out of the business as it doesn't sound like you enjoy it anymore.

No harm in admitting that BTW. I retired due to bad knees, but I still miss the joy and pride of a great event....even if I played songs I've heard NUMEROUS times.

Like Wide World of Sports used to say, "the thrill of victory" is what I got. Sounds like you're having "the agony of defeat".:tired:

I almost agreed with you. I know it's not about me. every once in a while I get to do an event that I enjoy doing and can't wait to do it. Most times it's just a job I do. I still enjoy doing it because I like to see people having a good time at an event I'm the DJ. I did an event in Jersey City that was really fun for both me and the crowd. I didn't have to play the same old songs. That crowd was more open. If I played certain songs they heard many times over, they wouldn't have danced up a storm like they did.

I did another one in Paterson NJ and I had to stick to what I call the standard stuff. They were into the same old songs they heard over and over again and again. I gave them what they wanted and kept it moving.

I like Alt-Country it's rare I get to play it. If the same old stuff bothers you you should really find a hook for the earphones

I get to play stuff I like all the time…….AT MY HOUSE😁

I still love to DJ. What saves me and it's spiritual in nature is when I get an event to do that me, the client and the guest are having a good time. That's what keeps me wanting to DJ and also when an event goes well with people complimenting me on the job I did.

im using mixxx-its not because its free but because i find the UI simple and clean (ive mentioned about my impairments on my waffled intro).
i used to think this was classed as entry level but i have a decent enough laptop-ryzen 7 4000 series CPU,32GB kingston fury sodimm RAM,a internal western digital SSD drive-only has 256GB though and a external lightning fast gaming SSD-its a 1TB western digital P50 etc,i stupidly updated my laptop to windows 11 and mixxx has gone a bit unstable, no BSODs but it just closes sometimes during mixing with no eror code (a few of my steam based PC games wont work either but thats another market).
-does anyone know if a lack of space on the internal SSD coud be causing the random crashes?

because of these issues with mixxx and a few niggles i have with it,i am looking for a paid DJ software, does anyone know of a similar software to mixxx that is very stable?
id be very greatful for ideas-cheers!

Most of the paid ones are very similar to Mixx and each other.

It could be a space issue but my first guess would be an unstable install of Windows but there are much more knowledgeable than me that might chime in
