First:In your opinion, from the poll list, what is the single most important element at a wedding?

Second:In an order of priority, make your own list. Think in terms of how this will affect the wedding, if it was absent.
It does not matter if the person is doing it themselves or hiring outside help.

Catering/Food initially then the entertainment. If the food is bad I'll leave early (A group of friends and myself have left weddings just to get something decent to eat). Now if the food is great and the entertainment is excellent I'll stay until the FAT LADY SINGS!!!!!

OK, I would not list Music/PA System, I'd list Entertainment and that is the elment that will make or break a wedding reception.

What?? No mention of the dress? I'm shocked!

The very first thing you need is music, wouldn't say a PA system, just something to listen to. What's the first thing that happens at the ceremony? She walks down the isle...to music! You can still have a great reception with wine/cheese and I've been to receptions where there isn't any food at all, dancing without the alcohol (surely someone must have done that? lol), but without some kind of music it would all seem a little dead to me. jmo

I would have to say the Venue which wasnt listed. You have to have a place to allow the other vendors a space to be either good or bad.

For the Wedding the most important thing is that the Marriage License gets signed.:sqwink:

For the Reception, I'd go with Food/Catering followed by Entertainment.:sqwink:

My opinion is that the most important thing at a wedding reception would be the Bride and Groom without those two you don't have a wedding reception.

It could be held in a home.

Different Cultures Different Methods!

It is very interesting how different cultures act in similar circumstances. In the Caribbean the emphasis is on the musical entertainment.. This is because in most cases, we eat before we go out. You never want to go to a party hungry. What if you did not like the food? This happened to me on Monday evening. I went to do Karaoke at a House party and I did not eat much. I could tell that the meat was taken straight out of the package and put onto the grill. It tasted bland and was tough like shoe leather. The chicken was the same way, it did not look like it was cleaned or seasoned before cooking. Yuck!
Today I still do the same, I eat before going to a party. I always leave room for veggie dip and shrimp (I love shrimp).
Back to the regularly scheduled program

In the US, we are expected to be fed at the reception (as guests) therefore we don't eat prior to the event.

I know, I know, I know.............. every event centers around food!

SVO,

You must be slippin'....

To answer the original question....

That Formaldehyde is beginning to get to his brain! :sqlaugh:

Nah, Zombies don't need no stinkin' Oxygen and for me I've lived so loooooong in Mexico City that when I was in Houston in the mornings I needed to put a hose on the exhaust pipe and bring it in the cars cabin in order for me to function properly, so Oxygen is not a priority :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

or we could go even further back Steve the birth of each of their parents.

ooh...
very "time machine...terminator...back to the future"
now you got me thinking!

I know it's just being snotty
but you asked what is most important at a WEDDING!
well, that's different from the RECEPTION.

if you mean the RECEPTION (and I think you do...)
I'd say the food.

it's the one thing you cannot do without
and still call it a reception.

I don't understand how you can all say the food. Given the choices here.

I've done receptions where they had deli plate and the party rocked because of the DJ.

I've worked at parties where they had great food and the party was great because the DJ rocked.

I was at a wedding as a guest where they had great food, and the band sucked, people sat around nobody hardly danced.

If the entertainment sucks, the party sucks. Lobster and Fillet Mignon isn't going to make it better.
