yes, but there is a difference between a PARTY and a RECEPTION.
there WAS a time before DJ's
where the b/g gathered with a few friends after the wedding.
it wasnt always at a hall, and didnt always have entertainment.

There are always exceptions, but what WAS doesn't matter because what we are dealing with is what is NOW.

we are far too set in our ways to change now!

trust me, I wanna believe that the entertainment is most important...
but not all brides and grooms think that way.
and since the original post was asking for OUR opinion...
then I'd like to vote for US!
