I actually have Chrome, FF, IE, Safari and Opera installed on my netbook, but the main one I use is FF. I find it to be the fastest with the best stability.

Portable IE8
Portable Safari
Portable Google Chrome
Portable Firefox
Portable Opera

Saves the hassles with installing anything

if there is anything else out there let me know i'll try it out

i'll also add:

Portable Seamonkey (browser)

well if I told you i'd have to kill and mame you

only joking lol

here you can read what it is all about -- http://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app

here you can see what programs (freeware) that
are done as portable firefox, etc on the main page

http://portableapps.com

I been using portable for ages
anyone need say
Office 2003 portable
open office.org portable

paint shop pro portable

anyway I have also created a few as well

as they its not who you know, its also what you know too that counts
just ask Big Dan :)

oh by the way Patrick

Installing Firefox Portable

To install Firefox Portable, just download the portable package at the top of the Firefox Portable page and then double-click it. Select the location you wish to install to and click OK. A FirefoxPortable directory will be created there and all the necessary files installed. That's all there is to it.

after you have it extracted to the desired directory, then that directory can be moved, copied, deleted etc to anywhere you need it - even onto a flash drive !

its so fast and so easy

I sorta like Opera, but their icon is lame -- you can never win man... :dontknow:

I used Opera for about a year on one machine. Perfectly stable and alot quicker than the usual suspects. Gotta try it again

Just installed it again...I remember why I like it now :sqwink:

jeff you should have used the Portable version - would save on space loading down the machine

I like Opera and have it installed by rarely use it. I don't care for two things with Opera. It's bundled with (or used to be bundled haven't looked lately) an email and newsgroup client like Netscape was. I don't need all that. I can ignore it but it's just extra weight IMHO. The community was kind of lame. If a site didn't work in Opera it was the site's fault not Opera's. Hello if a site works in other major browsers it should work in Opera.

I do like Safari on the Mac only because like all native Mac apps if you re-size the window it fits the window to the exact size of the content instead of just taking up the whole screen. Safari on Windows blows IMHO.

The best thing about Chrome is the so called 'ommibar'. Search and URL right from the same box, but we don't really how much information it's sending back to the mothership.

well Big Dan I am hoping to convert some to use Portables that wont do 1/2 that

having a one exe file that contains the browser in one
it never does the things that a installed version does

you can use the site above for some portables - I also have a heap here
I can upload anything for you

ok back to work - need to get a new system built

I'm not real big on portable apps, really have no need for them and generally don't trust whomever is fiddling with the app to make it portable isn't putting anything nefarious in there. ;)

However, I do have a full version Ubuntu installed on a thumb drive that I boot from when using an untrusted computer.

Hey Dennis,

Are you available in a portable version...? :sqlaugh:

Hell! What are you talkin' 'bout? The bloke is ported all the way over there in Aussieland! :sqlaugh:

yes - Rick there is a minime out there somewhere

Dan maybe thats because I have used and created portables for awhile

its no different to a full install but it just done a proper way not fiddled with or they never work

Firefox, but use IE when I need to because some sites are still using IE only coding. Cool add-on for Firefox allows me to right-click "open in IE". Main add-ons block ads, scripts & flash content unless I allow it. ("adblock plus", "noscript" and "flashblock") Facebook has zero ads for me and I always wonder why people complain about the ads until i open it in IE by mistake.

IE 8 for the internal web sites at work.

Crikey...I cannot believe anyone still uses Internet Explorer. It's like you want your computer to run slow and collect spyware and viruses.

Chrome is the best. I use Firefox when Chrome (rarely) doesn't work for something. Safari and Opera are also fine if you like them. I very very very rarely come across a site that for SOME REASON only works with Internet Explorer and I wish I could punch the website right in the face.

lol nothing wrong with ie8 unless you dont know what or how to use it!

thats what happens when you go to sites you shouldnt be going

i'll be using my portable ie8 all the time

I never have issues with IE8 crashing (Safari crashes on me far more than IE8), my biggest issue is that is it a resource hog.

if you wanna try the portable of IE8 just yell

i'll upload it for you

I switch around a lot between these two.
