I think it's the one Houston has and he did make a shelf to mount it on a tripod, I think there's also a picture of it in his albums.

Anybody compare this vs. a compact?

Two entirely different products.

L1 Compact: A portable mini line-array system with XLR mic input, RCA, 1/4" and minijack line input and compatibility with the T1 ToneMatch engine. Built-in carry handle. Designed for musicians. $999.

Acoustic Wave: A "bookshelf" stereo system with a built in CD player and aux channel for your mp3 player, but no XLR or 1/4" line inputs, and no mic input. No mini line-array configuration, no T1 ToneMatch compatibility. No carry handle, Portable if you buy the case and battery pack. Designed for people with tons of money to spend on a boombox. $1099 and up.

I know. I own the L1 system. :sqwink:

However, ahoustondj, finds a lot of uses, including rentals for his. I haven't heard the AWM, but I have heard the compact. I like what the compact offers, but the sound isn't quite what I expected. I still want one but am exploring my options in the Bose line.

I always thought he had the Bose 802s.

I always thought he had the Bose 802s.

No he runs one AWM on the left channel and another AWM on the other (Right) hidden behind an old 802 empty encolsure. This way people will never notice he's using the AWM's :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
:sqwink::sqwink::sqwink:
No, seriously he does the 802's with some JBL scoops.

I did make a shelf for mine and added Industrial velcro to the bottom of the AWM and the top of the shelf on top of a tripod. Mine has a microphone (Made by Bose that plugs into a Mic Input Jack). I paid over $100.00 just for the Mic. It also has an AM and FM Radio with a telescoping Antenna and an auxiliary and Optical Input Jack.

I have done many gigs with just that. Pool Parties, Background & Holiday Music for Corporations etc.
There is a recessed handle on each side. It can also play in the carrying case as there is a 10 D cell battery pack in it (http://www.ourdjtalk.com/album.php?albumid=8&pictureid=51). It saved the day a few times at the Resort where I used to DJ, power went and the Bose was the only thing available.
I purchased mine in 1999-2000 for $1,250.00 including the Carrying case. The Mic was extra.

Here it is, used for background music at a Law Firm's Holiday/Open House Event.

but the big question is it an L1? Or simply a lame effort compared to an L1 Compact?

I never tried comparing it to an L1. This was manufactured many years before the L1. It does not have the power of the L1. I do know it can be used for a small ceremony system. I have also used it to do home Karaoke Parties. It is impressive for what it can do.
