From a DJ who plays a lot of Country music, this is even better than CDX. CDX is usually on par, release time-wise with Prime Cuts... but CDX doesn't get music from the Warner and Atlantic labels anymore.
 
I will jump in here with my opinion! Neither Primecuts nor Promo Only have a clue about Contemporary Christian music. A music genre that has gone un-noticed for an awful long time. Where does your research come from? I feel that it is not taken seriously and a song or two is just added on each CD(sometimes not at all). If you had someone who had a passion for this music and took a chance on song selection, this is a genre that has been virtually untouched and could be quite surprising...:sqcool:

Oh I don't know I think the selection is fine... for the most part I'd classify it as Christian-Rock and on occation Christian-Pop/Dance... but, then I'm not into the Christian music scene like you are so it's fine for me.
 
Just a quick thing, but I used all that "filler" smooth jazz music that comes on PrimeCuts every week at my gig the other night. It worked fantastic, not your typical jazz music to be honest. It all has an upbeat tempo to it and a lot of the guests were tapping their feet to the music.

I just want to thank PrimeCuts for the extra music each week. It saved my butt in a genre my personal collection is lacking in.
 
I get RPM Top Hits MP3 DVD monthly now. I have been a suscriber to their service since 1995. there are plenty of songs that you get way before they hit & a few late ones. But all in all you get about 15 CD's of music for 55 bucks a month all pre ripped to MP3 its worth it to me just to not have to ripp it all.

If you notice our marketing materials, we rarely promote the Christian or Dance content on our discs. The reason being is those are 2 formats we place little emphasis on & for the most part consider them bonus genres that we include on our discs. In fact, we get tons of DJs who ask us to discontinue putting Christian on our discs at all...they think it's a waste of space. From time to time when there are 3 Christian songs on PrimeCuts we usually get a half dozen calls/e-mails from people complaining about it.

Without going into a ton of detail, for the most part, the Christian & Dance labels run differently than the other labels and many are small, independent labels. For years we ran a paid service for Christian music called 'PraiseDisc'. Christian record labels paid us to have their songs on the disc. We then shipped it for free to thousands of Christian radio stations across the US every month, as it was paid for by the labels (much like the CDX service for Country music that was mentioned earlier). We finally had to discontinue it this past December.

Truth be told, the main reason we even keep putting Christian on PrimeCuts is we have a lot of skating rinks who get PrimeCuts. Many skating rinks have a Christian night so they count on the music. We also have a small contingency of DJs who like it too.

I appreciate the added variety and truly value the occasional uplifting song or two that serves to remind me of all the blessings I receive and to be ever thankful.

Especially if you ignored the lyrcs that those artist value more than the chords and melody.

that is because you don't know how to market it! The songs that you put on there, are lame and boring! Now if you had someone who knows the genre and markets it properly, you would be surprised at the results! I can give you a few examples of christian songs that would better fit your target audience...:sqcool:

Ever think that perhaps it's not a matter of the 2 biggest companies for DJs & radio not knowing what the good Christian music/how to market it, and maybe it's the labels? :)

Again, without going into too much detail, all the companies like ours are at the mercy of the labels. Major record labels are great for us to work with since they realize the value of our service. Small labels (like most Christian labels) don't. We place the emphasis on what our subscribers want. Most don't even want Christian. We don't completely ignore the format but that's why there are usually only 1-2 per week.

As far as your suggestions, 13 TobyMac songs have appeared on PrimeCuts over the years. Of the groups you mentioned, that's the only one we had a substantial number of songs from....the others there were just a few. I'm not familiar with the other ones...are they newer/less mainstream groups?

Sounds like the labels need you as a promoter. :)
